Gonna get hit with an unprecedented heat wave in the PNW starting today or tomorrow. It RARELY hits 100 around here, but we could have 3 consecutive days of it with it peaking out near 110 on Monday. Not a big deal to a lot of people, but not many houses up here have AC as part of their home hvac.

I've got A/C. I think my 2nd summer here we had a similar heat wave. We weren't prepared. We were dumbfounded. Like, "We knew we'd have to deal with rain but what is this madness?!!" We're mostly just worried about fires.
It will be even worse on the other side of the mountains. Some friends of the mrs live in Richland. Suppose to hit 119 on Monday. We're suppose to hit 115 Sunday and Monday.

Yeah, saw where the Tri-cities is gonna be 20 deg hotter than PHX, lol. I've got portable AC units so I'm good. I'm about 40 miles N of Seattle & a couple miles from Puget Sound so it doesn't get AS hot here as it will in the foothills. This is a perfect storm, so to speak. Near/above 100 for 3-4 days, then back down to 85 on Weds. or Thurs. It may not get this hot again all summer.

Out of this whole run, I think it will only be hot at the beach one of the days. And that day is almost too hot for the beach. I swear... I'm from NorCal so i'm used to the beach rarely being hot but I swear it's only hot like 4 days out of the year on the coast. It's gonna be 115ish at my house on monday and like 65 at the coast. Looks like everyone in Clack County is gearing up to hit the rivers. I'm hitting the gym... then the bar

It's so hot I had to go home and freshen up before going to the bar. No bueno. I don't know how many are married, I know GG is, but it's a whole lot easier to shoot a text saying, "Hey, heading down to the bar when I leave the gym." than it is to go home, change clothes, then be like, "Oh, by the way..."

Today, Portland, Oregon, reached 108 degrees Fahrenheit (42.2 degrees Celsius) Saturday afternoon, according to the National Weather Service. The previous heat record for Oregon’s largest city was 107 F (41.7 C), a mark hit in 1965 and 1981.
Seattle reached 101 F (38.3 C) Saturday, making it the hottest June day on record and only the fourth time in recorded history the usually temperate city had topped 100 degrees.
The forecast was for even hotter temperatures on Sunday and Monday. Many all-time heat records could be broken. In Seattle, the highest temperature ever measured was 103 F (39.4 C), in 2009.

I've spent a lot of +110 days in northern AZ but you fellas are getting 30-40% humidity with the heat. That don't help!!
Exactly. I've seen 105+ many times but that was in eastern Washington (desert country) or Phoenix or Palm Springs where the humidity is very low. It's around 40-50% up here in summer........the difference can definitely be felt. I've lived on the east coast so I know what miserable humidity feels like, but until I went back to South Carolina a few years ago I'd forgotten how bad it is.
Playin golf tourneys today & tomorrow.........could be a war of attrition.

Recent heat wave in Pacific northwest would be virtually impossible without manmade global warming according to 27 climate scientists from World weather attribution network. Probability of such a extreme event is one in 1000 years. Before climate change began, probability would be one in 150,000 years. So climate change made this heat wave at least 150 times more likely. As global warming continues, extraordinary weather becomes less rare.

Weather records go back about 100 years or so. How old is the Earth?
