Hurricane Andrew destroyed much of South Florida. The headquarters of Burger King in Miami was severely damaged, Homestead Air Force base was heavily hit & over 63,000 homes were destroyed. 65 lost their lives. The Category 5 storm created over 26 billion in damages.
The sound of the wind is etched in my brain. As scary as this was, my wife & I were in San Fran on our honeymoon when that earthquake hit in 89 during the World Series & that was scarier because it was so sudden.
Whew...memories!

We got the last flight out from Orlando to California the day before the storm. Still remember the drive from Tampa Bay/Clearwater to Orlando in driving, driving rain. We knew it was time to get out of dodge when the waves were crashing over the pier in the Clearwater area.
SF quake I was in LA, watching the pregame when the ground shook a bit and the TV broadcast went out. Was wondering, “Uh oh, was that much worse than it was?” Then the TV came back on and the answer was yes.

Does anyone else find it odd that he mentioned the damage to Burger King’s headquarters BEFORE the death of 65 people? I like a Whopper as much as the next guy but c’mon man
When I think back to that I always think about how FUBAR the Homestead doublewides were (which killed people)

Lousy attempt at humor as usual.
Burger King was one of the largest employers in South Florida at the time & their data center was destroyed leaving their organization unable to communicate with thousands of stores. If you had a least a half of a brain, you would have understood how a disaster in one part of the country can negatively impact other areas of the country in the blink of an eye.

I was 7 during 89. Laying on the couch watching pregame. Parents are the table playing dominoes. Shaking starts. Mom calls out to me. I had froze. So she jumps up and runs in to check on me and at that exact moment our china cabinet smashes into her chair. I was in West Oakland walking distance from where the cypress structure collapsed.
TIME TO BRING BACK THE OBAMA CAGES!

Love getting a double double animal style. Their fries aren’t very good, but whatever. I’m impatient, you’ll never see me in a line for more than 15 min for any fast food.

Their fries are fire sometimes but you just have to eat them immediately. I have it very often anymore. I'm still in Cali pretty often so I'll get it every now and then but there's only on in Oregon and it's like 45 minutes away. Each way plus the wait. That's a two 2+ hour endeavor. Turns that shit into a date.

I agree, they’re great right away, but those freeze dried fries lose their flavor real quick. One burger I would say compares is on the ocean fishing boats down here in California - the Aloha burger. Basics include:
toasted bun
double burger
bacon
onions
jalapenos
bbq sauce
cheese of course
sometimes served with pineapple
Wrap it up all right so it all stays together and whammo! I think it’s the jalapeños that make it taste the best

In&Out fries aren't freeze dried. They cut them fresh right there. That's why they get all weird so quick. I don't even get the fries half of the time though. I love fries but I pick and choose when I'm gonna eat them. I just like the burgers.
