I didn't think you doubted that. I thought you were implying that i believed because of what was done to my family, the sanctions on the cuban people were justified.
the sanctions are on the government and hurts their pocket. anything that makes money is owned by the government. embargo or not, the cuban people would be in the same predicament.

visitors are already bringing in money/items into cuba for their families/friends to be used or sold/traded
also, what has 54 years of sanctions against cuiba accomplished?
cuba needs america. not the other way around. you wait them out until eventually the people demand a change. this was a perfect time in society for things to change with social media. instead of democracy coming, you now legitimize further the communist party. we blinked first. obama undid what every other administration worked towards. not that inaction requires much action but you get my point. obviously the embargo is the more pressing subject by restoring diplomatic relations is the first step towards trying to make that happen, although i don't believe congress approves.

also, why should my government be telling me i can't travel to cuban or spend my money in cuba or do business with cuba?
as was mentioned, anyone who wants to go to cuba can and they do. and when they go, they spend their money. can't speak to doing business with cuba.

also, why is our government is the business of telling cuba how to run their country and even if we were in that business (because we've done so well telling spreading "freedom" and democracy to other countries) why would we think continuing 50+ years of sanctions that haven't worked so far will start working now?
