I just bought one for 39$ brand new at home depot. Charcoal for heat, then soaked wood chips for the 'smoked' effect. Those Little Green Egg setups sound neat-o but i'm not really sure what utility they offer any diff from mine that cost 1/15th the price. If they are 'built to last better', then i guess if i have to buy a new one once a year for the next 15 years, then i will hit break even point with Joe Neighbor and his 600+$ Little Green Egg.
Same thing with the grilles, i don't get why people pay big bucks for name brands, if it serves the purpose and is built sturdy, why pay 3x for a name brand. I own a Char-Broil (i think thats the name) and it was on the cheaper side but i have beat up on it pretty good for four years and it still works pretty much the same

No... that is a pure smoker and not a smoker/grill. Sharky's link it what they look like. They are basically a normal grill with a separate side firebox on the side. The smoke comes in cool so there is no direct flame.
no8.... Wood only. Can use chips if in a pinch but the pros use wood and are very picky about which types.
