Bitcoin- Beginners Guide

Question

I just cannot seem to figure the shi tt out. I have downloaded AirBitz on my phone.

Now it wants me to go to Glidera to buy bitcoins.

Should I do that or is there a better way. I have some winnings in 5Dimes I am trying to get out and not pay a fee.

Also, would like to use BTC Sportsmatch, is that still working.

It&#x27;s a nightmare. And it sure as hell aint free to withdraw.you have to sell coins and for that there&#x27;s a fee.Deposits are even worse.  I just go straight to coinbase.com Do all of your transactions there. KISS Keep it simple.

For the blockchain, address do I click on receive and his that series of numbers/letters? Or do I go to settings and create a new address? Thanks.

Crash -For your first trades I would stick with coinbase and circle.  And yes, they are going to want all of your personal information verified because they are US companies dealing with US banks.  Any trading platform is going to need your personal information - except for something like localbitcoin where you meet other people to trade in person or by mail or whatever.Blockchain is your middleman.  You never move bitcoin from circle or coinbase directly to or from a book, it always goes through blockchain (or something similar) in between.You really should just set the whole thing up and practice by buying 5 bucks worth of BTC, and transferring it around to get the hang of it.  Once you see how it all works (it is pretty easy), you then transfer the bigger amounts.Coinbase is sort of expensive.  But once you figure out coinbase, there are other options out there that are much cheaper.  And if you plan on doing this a lot - there are inherent risks in checks and expenses there too.GL

Good stuff van. Obviously I&#x27;m with coinbase and they are pricey. Almost like calling a stock broker and paying his fees to buy 500 shares of xyz instead of online trading.Do you have another platform that is more fee friendly? Thanks.

If you don&#x27;t mind me asking, what do you use van for bitcoins? I have circle, coin base, and blockcain. To deposit, I always used circle, blockchain, 5dimes. I tried withdrawing via bitcoin for the first time yesterday and my withdraw got rejected when sending to blockchain, however, coin base worked successfully.

Check out gdax.com . They are coinbase sister site that is an open exchange.

Also check out the Gemini exchange.

Both are going to be cheaper (but take a learning curve, and a little less convenient than CB)

If you want ultimate convenience and anonymity - try localbitcoin.com - but you should be very aware of what you are getting in to before you attempt it.

Dont ever WD or Deposit directly from Sportsbook directly to Circle on Coinbase. Only a matter of time until you are banned.

BTW - dont be intimidated by the exchanges.This is a good beginner guide to GDAX.Remember - if you already are a coinbase customer - it is a very easy linked transition to GDAX.GL

When you say "they are expensive" how much expense are we talking per $100 withdrawal or $1000 withdrawal?Thanks again and Van I went back and read your initial blog on this in 2013, wow, were you ahead of the curve. Did you buy more than your initial three bitcoins?

Ha - yes - I have bought and sold many since then.I think CB charges 1.5%, and I think Circle is much less.  The exchanges are about .25% - so worth getting to know how to use them.GL with it all.

How is GDAX? And do you Bitcoiners have the whole 65GB for a Wallet that uses the entire blockchain (think BitcoinCore)?

What IS your wallet of choice? (instead of "What's in your wallet?" - what IS your wallet!)

Also do books that accept Bitcoin like YouWager, Bovada, Heritage etc... charge an arm and a leg to get your money (like the $50 fee for a paper check, incredible)
