Can you bet at a LV casino you work at?

My friend is a blackjack dealer who just moved to Vegas. He got a job at newly opening SLS casino. Can he bet there, or would he have to go to a different Casino?

Any insight appreciated

No, he cannot bet there.

I think it is discouraged..every bartender or dealer I've talked to over the years that gamble say they play in locals off-strip places and not where they work at all..Better odds and they get thier own comps.

Sounds like your buddy got a nice new gig for having just moved there and foot in the door for a new prop...

I should elaborate... Casino security is scared shiitless about employees collaborating about anything.

So he can bet at other Casinos, just not the one he works at?

Yeah he worked at a Casino in PA, and his shift manager was transferred out to the SLS. He went out there and took all the tests and got the job, and then decided to move out there.

If you ask a Blackjack Dealer if they go elsewhere, to play on their day off, 99% of them say...."fukk no, I see enough during the week"

I worked for the Boyd group, among others.

Everyone could play slots or bet sports (not sure about sports book writers on that).

One time the shift manager and casino manager were talking about how many employees were playing video poker on break.....(uniform shirts a big giveaway) and the casino manager said that the Boyd group was known for good benefits and the employees were paying for them, in quarters.

was a sportsbook writer at caesars. you are not allowed to bet there or any of Harrah's other properties but sometimes I would take my work shirt off and go across the street to the Flamingo on my lunch break and put a few picks in

far as i know even in AC no employees allowed to gamble in any casino they worked at. Of course simply smart if they lost they figure out a way to stel back what they lost when at work.

Use to live in Vegas and workers were allowed to bet at any game/option that did not involve an outcome with an exchange with another worker. Workers could bet sports,horses,keno,slots but no table games.

We got dozens of poker rooms in in south Florida. I know that the dealers are not allowed to play where they deal at, but you will see them at other poker rooms.

Wrong. As a blackjack dealer he can DEFINITELY bet sports there.

So I went directly to the source.  My cousin has worked in Vegas for the last thirty years.  He is currently a Pit Boss at The Venetian...

"Depends on the casino. At the Venetian where I am now, absolutely no. No sports book, poker room, tables, or machines. But when I worked at the Gold Coast I would get a 20 minute break every hour when I was a dealer and you could go play the machines IN YOUR UNIFORM or make a sports bet. Back then we would get paid our tips from the day before ($80-$100) in an envelope and many a day we would lose it before we even got off work!!!! But no casinos would ever let anyone play table games in their own joints before or after work."

Most casinos in Vegas allow their Poker dealers to play poker at that same casino when off shift

Thanks for the info.

In Pennsylvania, if you worked at a Casino you couldn't gamble in at any casino in  PA. (I'm not sure if thats every employee, but for the poker dealer I knew it was.)

That changed in the last year or so though, and now you just cant gamble at the Casino you work at.

I have worked at the Palms, Harrahs, and Mandalay bay and after we got off of work we could do as we please. As long as you're not on the clock no one gave a sh*t.

like you'd actually want to bet at sls? is there a snowball's chance in hell they have the best odds for anything? LOL
