none of you got a decent lawyer to get the charge dropped to wreckless driving at the very least?
I did .... back in the day. I had a lawyer who was a former judge ( he got caught with drugs in his trunk lol ) Anyway this happened back in 93 in point pleasant nj ; Jersey Shore.
When i got the wreckless driving the cop asked me not to spread the word about my lawyer who he happened to know as a childhood friend. And so , my covers brothers, if you ever find yourself in a jam with a dui .... look up attorney Steve Peppi.
on a side note I'm clean n sober now almost 7 years now. Just drink a lot of coffee n smoke a ton.

I love how people on a gambling board are high and mighty and act like they have not driven a car after having even just one drink or broke the law at all, they just haven't been caught. In any event, my best friend got a dui (california) and he found an insurance company in San Francisco, paid 300 for the year (liability only). I now use the same insurance because they are so cheap. He was 25 at the time of his dui.
I call bullshit.

$300 for the year for liability after DUI? That sounds WAY TOO CHEAP.
I've been searching high and low and the cheapest I found was $1099 for the year from https://www.4autoinsurancequote.com , and they seem like kind of a shady company anyways.
GEICO, Allstate, etc. all quote me near $2k

I got hit by a old guy with freaking Alzheimer’s haha and got charged with an owi because of my meds! BS but I’m not a favorite of local law enforcement haha. Ahhh ok I was seeing the best pain doc around 6’2 200 lbs hmm ok and zero injury haha yep he’s awesome :) and got 6 roxy 30s, 2 40mg ops, and 3 bars so I was fucked up 24/7 for years. Luckily smart enough to get in rehab a year back. In Indiana when you get charged you lose license for 6 months and then have to buy bs insurance. I paid $315 a month and it was the only thing on my record!! The crazy thing is I have the top attorney so just got it dropped to a public intox haha, start probation today ugh but it beats 8-10k plus increase insurance and so on.
Like a mortgage broker that shops a lot of different places find a car insurance broker. Different states different laws so not positive but you’re looking at $300-375 a month.
You guys act like you have never driven buzzed haha. Now I just Uber it!!

Had my license back for over a year now...gone thru the Intoxalock device and all that...monthly premiums are now $107...which isn't bad
i also used intoxalock with sr-22. caught two of them puppies when i was 17, long before uber and all these services were around. collectively, with lawyer fees and all that other great stuff, the two dui's took about 20k out of my pocket. took me 10 years to get my license back after they revoked it in illinois. once jesse jackson gets ya, you're in the hole
No team is as good as it looks when winning nor are they as bad as they look when losing

The best thing you can say is, "it depends." An attorney will probably have a hard time pleading you out to a lesser charge when your BAC is .29 (my own experience). I know many who have had attorneys who have saved their ass and many who have paid a lot of money for basically nothing. Bottom line is to find someone you trust and make the determination if the benefit will be greater than the cost. Simple.
I had ignition interlock for a year and an SR-22 rider on my insurance for 3 years (it is not off). My insurance only went up like $40 a month. no idea why it was that cheap. I just did what I was told (by the law and by my insurance company) and that's the way it worked out. Insurance rates are affected by a million things....age, type of vehicle, type of coverage, etc. All you can do it research and make an informed decision.
Only good thing about my DWI is that it helped me make a decsion to get sober. I have no idea why I didn't hurt myself or anyone else with as much time as I spent behind the wheel under the influence. I was just lucky. I know many who have not been as fortunate.
The message is a great one....don't drink and drive. But in my own instance, I was gonna do what I wanted to do no matter what anyone else said. In fact, I made fun of those other people. That's how sick I was. Like I said, I was just lucky that I didn't hurt anyone.
Bottom line is it's a preventable thing that can cause a lot of pain and suffering and can cost a lot of money.
