CRIME ALERT! Cheering at daughter's graduation...(wait for it)....while black

 And lo and behold, it's in South Carolina, a state that is still proud to fly the Confederate flag over it's Capitol Building.

Actually I don't look desperate.

These are actually the very stories that highlight what it is to be Black in America, that is, that even the slightest infraction of any rule, no matter the circumstance, can lead to the harshest penalty, even death (just ask Tamir Rice, Eric Garner, Trayvon Martin, Akai Gurley etc. etc. etc.).

Ya see, the Black community is constantly harassed (and jailed, fined, roughed up, even killed etc.) in ways the white community knows nothing of.

Why do you think this story made national headlines??? Because it was a COMMON occurrence? That's what makes DoubleUp4Life look like a fool. It is news PRECISELY because this doesn't happen in communities at graduation in general. And even he cited another story where a black family was jailed and fined for the exact same thing, hence, supporting my point.

It was taken so far as to fine the family and face JAIL TIME for ...cheering at a graduation.

Now, your example of asking a crowd not to engage in a certain behavior is far different than possibly ARRESTING someone for doing that very thing.

Unfortunately, your post supported my point, and that is whether you are black or white.

And if you understood the larger point of what I said, that is, all of a sudden, when cheering occurs at a graduation, something that literally has been done millions, if not hundreds of millions of times at a graduation, there is a potential for ARREST, it involves a black family (and not surprisingly, a white administrator).

Have you ever been to South Carolina? Let's just say the confines are none too friendly to minorities, even in 2015. But of course this isn't limited to SC.

Of course, there is an out for the homogenous masses here and that is that the parents were warned not to do such a thing. And that is what bigots love: THE RULE OF LAW! Don't follow the law? Get the cops involved. But the law is fine within reason (this isn't a 'law' but you get the point).

The point is the TREATMENT when the law is not followed. Or even the treatment when no one is breaking a law at all. Freddie Gray just 'looked' at police and decided to run. Crime? No. But when the police made eye contact that was all they needed as reasonable suspicion. (Ultimately, there was a blade issue in his possession legal under state law but the cops of course use this as an excuse to ultimately sever his spine and deny him medical treatment).

Now, I want a dozen white covers members to tell me when a cop has ever stopped and questioned them for making 'eye contact'. Why do I say a dozen? Because one will come out of the woodwork and say "Me Me Me! I have!" and somehow that will disprove me and my point about how black communities have cops continually swarming them, arresting, harassing, stopping and frisking, roughing up and potentially killing its members. Are some of these members criminals? Yes. Are most normal individuals going about their day? Yes.  Ask a dozen members on covers or anywhere and you won't reach that number in the white community.

Just ask Eric Garner. He allegedly sold 'loose cigarettes' and because the guy, who had been harassed repeatedly over and over and over basically said "Enough is Enough! Leave me ALONE" they ultimately choked the life out of him. No charges whatsoever.

Oh, and by the way, no loose cigarettes were ever found on his person.

So why say all this? Again, this is news because of the TREATMENT involved when the family is black and that treatment comes in the harshest forms possible.

I mean just off the top of my head look at the sentencing disparities for crack cocaine (typically considered an inner city drug) and powdered cocaine (typically considered more of a universal drug, if not a white-collar drug). These sentencing disparities were massive.

Crack had a ONE HUNDRED TO ONE sentencing disparity in comparison to powdered cocaine. Only under Obama (surprise) was it reduced to a mere 18-1 (still laughable in its own right).

And why was that? Because crack is that much more dangerous? Members here believe that and will repeat that ad nauseam even though it's been disproven.

But the disparity remains...at 18-1.

As it does here...as this family is facing ARREST for cheering...at a graduation.

Why turn it into a black/white thing when I, DoubleUp4Life, just gave you an example of ...getting arrested while cheering at a graduation....while black, hence the very title of the OP's thread....
