This documentary is about 16 months old, though I believe I have never heard this story.  The video generally covers how he treats cancer with antineoplastons with amazing success and his fight with the FDA and the Texas Medical Board.

The FDA had been on a witch hunt for years.  He has saved many lives throughout the years and yet the FDA would not rest, taking him to trial about 6 or 7 times.  This could be the most riveting documentary I have ever seen.

A friend of mine just had a niece die of cancer this past Tuesday.  She was 22 and just graduated from Akron U.  I just wonder if her family had ever heard about him or Rick Simpson.

I just heard a statistic now that 1 out of 3 people will get some form of cancer sometime in their lives.  Unbelievable.  If I am ever that unlucky, I know I will contact both of the men I mentioned above.

Watching CNN now... MD Anderson is declaring a war on cancer. Actually as far as I'm concerned I wouldn't be hopeless if I came down with cancer. I realize that probably everyone feels this way, but what I've seen with Rick Simpson and Dr. Burzynski... I just feel confident that I could beat it with help from those two. I also would enjoy refusing treatment from my doctor as well. Ummm... no thanks Doc. I think I'll pass on the chemo. I appreciate the gesture however.

That said, I do have to admit that a diagnosis of cancer of course would weigh heavily on my mind. I didn't mean to imply otherwise w/ my previous post.

The drug companies dont want to cure cancer because there is no money in curing cancer. Theres only money in treating cancer.

If the drug companies could come up with another disease to unleash on all of us that was as big a money maker as cancer, then they would cure it.

Its pretty clear the drug companies control the fda and use them to silence people who have come up with ways to fight cancer.

Its pretty sickening how our govt goes to extreme measures to stop people from trying whatever they want to fight cancer.

If somebody finds that eating a few spoonfuls of dirt everyday can cure cancer, whats the govt gonna do?  Ban dirt, because the drug companies cant make any money off it?

Anybody in this day and age, who still doesnt believe cancer can be cured, is living their lives with blinders on and dont really understand how the world operates.

This is scary but also what I believe. I have a friend that works with a high end pharm company and has told me he strongly feels they have a cure for diabetes but would never release it.

Its pretty clear the drug companies control the fda and use them to silence people who have come up with ways to fight cancer.

Its pretty sickening how our govt goes to extreme measures to stop people from trying whatever they want to fight cancer.

I don't believe there is one single cure for cancer. Cancer is developed in to many ways from free radicals mostly from the food we eat. The only way to stop cancer and radically change the healthcare system is to change our diets. People need to change they're attitude I hear to many people say " I could never stop eating this or that" but then we lose someone close to cancer and lash out and blame god or something else. If we ate more green raw veggies more raw foods then cancer rates would dramatically drop.

It's to easy in this country to eat unhealthy. That makes no sense. Why wouldn't we want to be healthy and live the best lives we could. Greed and money control this country

I don't know if I could disagree any more with post #9 by CDnumbers. I just finished a fantastic book called "The Emperor of All Maladies -- A Biography of Cancer" by Siddhartha Mukherjee, M.D.. It's a fantastically written book that gives a great look at cancer, its history, its treatment, etc.

Let me break down Post #9:

"The drug companies dont want to cure cancer because there is no money in curing cancer. Theres only money in treating cancer."

This is a ridiculous premise. Can you imagine the stock price of the company that discovered a "magic bullet" to cure cancer? It would go through the roof, hands down. Plus any "magic bullet" cure would be patented and therefore that company would have the unilateral and exclusive right to provide that cure. They could charge whatever the hell they wanted and it would get paid due to the high demand for such a cure.

Also, this displays a fundamental misunderstanding of "cancer", which is really a whole separate different numbers of diseases that all have in common the inability of cells in a specific body to regulate cellular mitosis. It arises either from genes that mutated to kick the cellular mitosis into overdrive, from genes being mutated that no longer prevent cellular mitosis, or some combination of both.

"If the drug companies could come up with another disease to unleash on all of us that was as big a money maker as cancer, then they would cure it"

With "another" disease? Do you think that the drug companies came up with cancer? Cancer, as a disease, has a long standing history that significantly predates modern medicine. You know why? Because cance is a disease that essentially hijacks our own cells and causes rapid, unchecked cellular division. All of us have cancer causing genes inside of us. Every single one of us. The disease develops when those cancer causing genes are put into overdrive or are prohibited from stopping cellular division.

"Its pretty clear the drug companies control the fda and use them to silence people who have come up with ways to fight cancer."

Again, this is silly. Is the FDA flawless? Absolutely not. But it still serves a primary role to protect again the proliferation of medicine that is either untested, proven to not be efficient at its goal, or has significant side effects.

I'm no fan of government or bureaucracy, trust me. But the FDA has no reason to "silence" people who have come up with ways to fight cancer. None.

"Its pretty sickening how our govt goes to extreme measures to stop people from trying whatever they want to fight cancer."

More like the government is trying to prevent people from being hoodwinked by people selling snake oil and calling it a cure.

"If somebody finds that eating a few spoonfuls of dirt everyday can cure cancer, whats the govt gonna do?  Ban dirt, because the drug companies cant make any money off it?"

This is so ridiculous that it doesn't deserve a response.

"Anybody in this day and age, who still doesnt believe cancer can be cured, is living their lives with blinders on and dont really understand how the world operates."

I respond: Anybody in this day and age who believes that cancer can be "cured" with one magic bullet is living their lives in ignorance and displaying a fundamental misunderstanding about the nature of cancer, its causes, its pathophysiology, etc.

This is really sad because chemotherapy has been proven clinically to be effective in combating certain forms of cancer.

Do not get misled by some slickly produced, one-sided video. Cancer is far more complicated than most people understand.

What if the drug cannot be patented? It might have slipped to you that a treatment has been found for at least some type of cancer:

That goes to the point that I made above about cancer being many different diseases. Some cancers respond to certain kinds of treatments while others don't. They all have one similarity in common -- unchecked cellular mitosis. After that one unifying factor, there is such a large variation in the types of cancers that it is staggering.

Perhaps it is better to think of it as "cancers" instead of "cancer" given that wild variation.

    From your link:

"The cure was discovered by scientists at the University of Alberta, in Edmonton, Canada. The cure uses a dichloroacetate, a simple drug used to treat metabolic disorders. Because it's so simple, it had no side effects and also requires no patent. Therefore, it is relatively cheap (at least in comparison to current cancer treatments) and will actually cure cancer rather than warding it off.

Also because of the fact that it can't be patented, it's hard to make a large profit off of it. Due to this, pharmaceutical companies won't touch it, because it doesn't help their pockets. This is why this discovery isn't being celebrated and making front-page headlines."

Not trying to be an ass Kapono, but, really?  You need to wake up my friend... with all due respect.

When you have an entire industry made up of millions of people making hundreds of billions off of the treatment of cancer, you have a lot of power here.

If a company came up with a magic bullet, do you really think all the companies making mass amounts of money are going to simply watch their money maker go down the tubes without a fight?  Do you know how many jobs and how much money would be lost?  Let's be honest with ourselves.  When you're dealing with this much money, you have powerful people involved.  Big Pharma simply won't let this happen.  This isn't a conspiracy theory, it's real life.  This documentary I posted provided every detail with a source, it didn't randomly spew out rhetoric, theory, and opinions.  Everything was documented and based on fact.

Do not get misled by some slickly produced, one-sided video. Cancer is far more complicated than most people understand.

Again, with all due respect, I feel the way I do because of the research I've done.  I didn't simply wake up one day and watch one video.  I've watched many films and have read many articles.  Big Pharma should be renamed Big Money.  They don't care about you or me, or our families.  Not one bit.

I have no doubt that chemo works to a degree.  But I don't think it works good enough for me, and I don't think I'll want to deal with the side effects.  No thanks.

More like the government is trying to prevent people from being hoodwinked by people selling snake oil and calling it a cure.

This is true.  To a point.  They have to make sure that people do not come up with false cures.  However, the last I heard, pharmaceuticals have 1,274 lobbyists in DC.  Politicians need campaign money and they need Big Pharma to do well.  If somebody gives you lots of free money, you're going to make sure they're always happy and making more money.  This is how the world works.

Do you really think the crackdowns on the medicinal marijuana stores are due to the gov't being concerned about our neighborhoods and our well being?  Please tell me you don't.

Cannabis has been used as a medicine for thousands of years yet the gov't claims it has no medicinal value.  Yet the gov't mails marijuana cigarettes to a very small group of people that need the medicine.  Ummm... what?

The gov't, FDA, and Big Pharma do not want a cure.  The treatment is providing too many jobs and making too much money.

im with SteelCash on this one. Chemo only makes the immune system weak and helps the cancer in a way.

There can be a cure ( already prooven ) but its not in their interest to make it and sell it ( it should be cost less than 10$ ). On the other hand billions and trillions of $$$ are made with treatments that dont help.

Pharmaceutical companies aare the most powerful of all and are controlling everything.

Steel - I'm with you that if I were to ever unfortunately be diagnosed with cancer that I would pass on chemo.

Kap - Agree with some of your points, but also some of CD's as I do believe the FDA and Big Pharma have the capability of limiting what is put out as it would hurt a lot of businesses. Strongly disagree with your chemo statement tough.

Green - make a good point about eating and living healthier lives to highly decrease the chance of cancer, altho as Kap said a lot of the things we already do carry.
