So you meet an extremely sexy 23 yr old brunnette at the bar while waiting for your to go food. She engages conversation...you come to find out she's engaged after only 8 months and begins telling you she isn't so sure about it and has serious doubts. You, with your Keith Stone-like smoothness, give her an open ear and play it real cool. 45 minutes later, you're still talking to her about everything from shooting pool to fighter jet cockpits. Real cool down to earth girl. Your food is getting cold. Her to-go food is getting cold. Its time to go. She asks for your number and writes down her number on a napkin.

Definitely think the window of opportunity is open and what a better way to meet a girl but one problem. She's engaged. What are you gonna do?

If she wasn't interested, she won't give out her # to you.  10 years down the road, when you look back at this...it could have been you instead of the other guy.

if shes letting her food get cold and then giving you her number, thats not your fault bro...id continue to play it cool...give it a a few days, maybe a week, and if she hasnt called you by then, maybe give her a shout...nobody ever got ahead by doing nothing. its a win win...

Nothing is worth fighting over, especially illusions.  If she's really into you, the other guy doesn't have anything to be jealous about.
