Wearing cloth masks were/are not meant to protect the wearer, rather to reduce droplets from being ejected onto another person. Cloth masks still allow aresols to be released and inhaled. 

Looking at mask wearing from a strictly scientific approach; If you ever worked in an industrial setting chances are at some point you needed to wear safety glasses. OHSHA requires that safety glasses must meet the minimum requirements of the American National Safety Institute. The glasses must have the ANSI Z87.1 approval rating. 

When it comes to masks people wear cheap cloth masks that have very little benifit. Especially against aerosals. So the virus is enveloped in mucus and water making it larger than the .075-.160 micron size. The N95 removes 95% of .3 micron size particles. Worn correctly the N95 should greatly reduce transmissions.

If you want to protect yourself, wear an N95.

China proves that lockdowns do work.  For a huge population, China's covid mortality is relatively lower than in many countries.  But no country can sustain zero covid policy forever because of unrest among population.  Now World health organization warns of worldwide surge in covid cases and new variants if China eases public health measures.

That doesn't prove vaccines don't work.  Doctors expect more covid deaths among vaccinated people because they far outnumber the unvaccinated population.  However unvaccinated people are still at greater risk of severe covid illness in hospitals compared to the fully boosted in same age group.  Doctors still recommend vaccination for those who recover from infection because best protection combines both natural and vaccine immunity.  In third year, covid remains third leading cause of death in the US according to Kaiser family foundation analysis of Center for disease control data.  Commonwealth fund study estimates covid vaccination has prevented over 3 million deaths in the US.

The question of whether to drop or to continue wearing face masks especially after being vaccinated among the public is controversial.

False to suggest Denmark banned covid vaccination of people under 50 years of age because of safety concerns according to fact checks by Annenberg and Health feedback.  Danish health authority focus its fall 2022 vaccination on people with the highest risk of severe illness.  Primary vaccination continues to be available for those under 50.  As of September 2022, 82% of Denmark population is fully vaccinated compared to 68% in the US.
