How can I put this delicately?! -- not that I'm against our offense department (defense dept is a laughable term), but we have been involved in a lot of pointless and expensive wars in the past 10 yrs, some of which go against international law. I'm just tired of this polital correctness.

The "offense" comment revealed your true colors and belied your preconceptions. Hardly the way to advance an intelligent conversation. I'm betting you're PC on many other issues.

Schwartz I understand your point.
But you will not find any "discussion" here on a topic like this. Many other places on the web you will though.

When the soldiers on the front lines, the ones getting deployed, are the ones that are making policy decisions on where to send themselves, then your revulsion with the "thank you for your service" might have legitimacy.

No one forces these people to enlist in the military, so I'm surely not going to "thank" them for their service. They do it willingly.
We don't thank the cops who work in Harlem ,Compton, and Detroit for their service--even though it's very dangerous also. Why, because society doesn't tell us to. You morons that thank military personel but not cops are robots that's can't think for yourself.
And lets be honest....while military people may not be retards, they sure as heck aren't the cream of the crop. It takes zero schooling, zero qualifications, and zero work history to enlist into the military--they'll take any monkey off the street. You know who else does that, McDonalds. Case closed.

I (usually) side with the guy that's bringing up the hot topic.... *just for discussions sake
In this case the boys are right....it's now worthy
We ALL should say thanks.... * EVERY SINGLE TIME we encounter a man / woman who has put their behind on the line...it ain't gonna hurt ya'...and will mean a helluva lot to them............dontcha think (many) of them think the 'war' is f-u-c-k-e-d up too?...you bet they do *we can't say thanks enough
A much better topic?.....also very unpopular
THE NFL with all this OVER THE TOP breast awareness crap... *THINKING PEOPLE....immediately see this as a shameless marketing tool.....others...including most chicks it seems...... just think the NFL really cares....about a serious (but way down on the list) threat to our lives .....(buddy of mine had it)
SO.....why eggzactly are we skipping over the others?....reckon' the NFL doesn't give a rat's azz about heart disease which kills what 25% of Americans each year?......nor child abuse or the homeless.....certainly not 'reality' TV like that Chrisley Knows Best ....which is IMO.... a most serious threat to our way of life....
The impediment to action advances action - what stands in the way becomes the way.
