Anthony's - one of the town's most famous restaurants. Been there forever. At the Embarcadero, also branches in a few of the suburbs.
For tourists downtown, but still good. Two places, i think, at Embarcadero. One pricey, one cheap.

I was born & riaised in NYC but would rather live in So California. Orange or SD, not LA.
By NYC we're talkin' the tight little island of Manhattan, not the other four boroughs (tho they also are NYC). Right, you better have a disposable income to live there.
Great improvements and cleanups and reductions in crime under the last two mayors, but still mostly rich and poor, not too much in-between.
Due to the severe recession the 20 somethings who used to work on Wall Street and cound afford a small Manhattan apartment for $4000 a month are now waiting for better times in Brooklyn, Staten Island and Queens.
It's still The City. But I know more than one person who, once they got out to go to Calif, or small town New England, or even Florida, would never go back to live.
To visit, sure. I like going to The City. Once in a while. And I say with the out of town rube visitors, "Nice place to visit, but i wouldn't want to live there." (Well, maybe if my net worth was 10 or 20 milllion . . . . . .)
California has major problems, but still has an economy that would rank among the top 20 in the world. But it is in trouble, with chronic water shortfalls, being the main magnet for Third World gate-crashers, an overloaded state bureaucracy, too-fat welfare programs that have been jobbed for years by hustlers . . . .maybe Bloomberg could move out there and run for Governor
