a friendly kickball game between 7th and 8th graders in 1972. the 8th graders were an average of 6' tall and 150# and had just won the san francisco catholic league bb championship. but in an oddly low-scoring game, the 7th graders pulled out a huge upset, 4-2.
the highlight was a play made by the 7th graders' centerfielder with the bases loaded and two outs. a booming kick directly over his head made him turn his back to the field, race at full speed, and reach out and catch the ball about 3" off the ground with only his FINGERTIPS. his momentum caused him to almost crash into the brick wall that marked the edge of the field, but he managed to upright himself and jump onto a wooden bench that was next to the wall and he twisted his body and ran parallel to the wall until he slowed enough to only smack his shoulder into the wall.
to this day, that it the most amazing play i have ever seen in person or on tv by anyone--professional or not and regardless of age. and no, it was not me.
the 8th graders were so pissed they challenged the 7th graders to a rematch a week later. this time, their superior physicality enabled them to absolutely crush 'em, 13-2. no rubber match was made so both sides saved face.

I was at the Monday night Miracle, I'm a Dolphan, living in NYC. My stepdad is a huge Jets fan. 10 minutes to go, hes like lets get outta here. I said wait 5 minutes, I want to dwell on this ass kicking. You know how the night ended.
