coaching is important in BBALL...but 1 guys talent can make a HUGE difference in BBALL aka Lebron...but in Football, teh best player on your team is only on the field half the time...
THe hardest thing in sports to coach tho is this...getting an NBA team to play defense for 48 minutes a night..if you can figure that one out, you are coach of the century

Football, hands down...

are you familiar with the high school? college? coach who subs players in and out at an unreal rate?
I think if you let players come in and out [at least 1-2mins]and then at the next loose ball SUBS come in. 1-2 mins, SUBS 2 min SUBS come in
BUT THE WHOLE TIME
you tell the players PLAY MAN DEFENSE like your mothers life is on the life....
if you had 10 players, all pretty even [obv. im not talking nba]....wouldnt this be a better plan? keep them fresh and keep them playing the best d possible because they are fresh....
lets face it....you dont always try your hardest....
ex: playing 1 on 1 in the park, point game, his ball....I used to stick on that mfker like glue.....not that I was lazy the rest of the game, just when its point game something turns on
ex: playing in a league game...7seconds left, tie game, their ball [5 on 5] you play defense WAY harder than any other point in the game...you are NOT gonna be the one to give up a gw basketball
i think the only way to get players playing "get on his ass d" for the whole game would be sub-ing in players every 2-3 minutes..if not shorter.
lets say JHS, even H.S. level [if you aren't coaching OJ mayo's]
and dont give me the 'WHO WANTS TO PLAY 2-3 mins at a time".....we arent talking rafer alstons, we are talking kids...when they see their smothering defense work, they will buy into it.

I could give a dozen examples but lets just give one or two
You can be THOROUGHLY outcoached in hoops but if your outside shooters are hitting, or the other guys are not you win the game.
In football if you have the completely wrong defensive set the offense of a good college team will score a TD vs the steelers defense 9 times out of 10 This applies on almost any passing play during the course of a game
Remember TB vs OAK in superbowl? why you think that happened?

hands down football, by far, many more positions, many more technicalities, form/technique on blocking and plays is huge, this debate...its not even close football by a mile

Basketball players can practically coach themselves. Football has so many more players and requires so much more coordination. That's why there are so many coordinators.
