Has anyone here ever been down $4000 or over sportsbetting?

Ok guys im down about $4k in one week which really blows. Been stressed out over this and in back of my head I keep saying I will get everything back with cash on top. Lately I've just been playing 1-2 units rather than 7-10 units.

Has anyone ever been down so much and got everything back later on?

I can write a 10 page report on this subject. I won't even beat around the bush. If you can get out, and cut your losses, DO IT.

I have never been blessed with money management skills, I don't track my wagers, and could probably be retired at this moment in my life if I never got involved in sports gambling.

 You haven't  gambled long if you've never been down $4k............yes, you can turn it around.

yes MUGG the question here should be who here has ever NOT been down 4k. I was up about 5k in NCAA hoops 2 years ago and lost $4k of it back in March madness

Find a way to pay your debt and stop gambling-
The fact that your "down " 4k makes me think that you owe 4k....
Pay it and never bet again-
This is the best advice you will receive....

As Vanzack would say, you are about to get introduced to something that all long term gamblers are familiar with -- the concept of the "payment plan"

Yes Yes and Yes to all of the above.  I have been down thanks to Credit Card gambling that nearly ruined my life.  But now, gambling is with real money earned only.  A small 50 or 100 cash thru MoneyGram and build it back up turn 50 into 500 or 1000 and take your time with it, unless it is Grandma standing in the corner as in Rounders.

worst feeling in the world is being down a nice chunk of money to a bookie and you are broke as hell dreading that convo. Is it easier to just ignore the guys calls? Your not down enough where they'd hurt you? Lot of funny thoughts go thru your head

My #1 rule is cash up front, in over 20 years I have never bet on credit.  

The fact that you're thinking about a comeback means you have a gambling problem.

Thousands and thousands have.  And many of them have given it right back and more.  

Just put yourself in the group that gambles for entertainment and doesn't do everything in their power to win.....and only play when you have the money to do so up front....as Sharkysden suggests.

i take it your a 50-100 bettor normally...payment plan and break is in order... betting scared $ you dont have is a way to really get deep.. if you wanna try to chip away with some 3 teamers who am i to tell ya not to...i saw a dude fork over 10k  one day to the book and was baffled at the thought of losing that..but to him it wasnt a big deal..everyones different financial wise just bet within your means from now on

By the way, has anyone ever been a long term winner that has been on a payment plan?  I can't imagine. 

As vanzack has often said, there are two types of gamblers:  1. Those who do EVERYTHING in their power to win....shop lines....buy and sell...ANYTHING to make a profit.  And 2. Recreational gamblers.  Some might win, but they don't do EVERYTHING in their power to make money....they may not have the tools....or the commitment....or the time to invest in the process.

If you are a 2 (which most are including myself), just be honest with yourself.  And do NOT bet money you don't have.

 agree with hutch.. especially this time of year when its 80% baseball. You're one swing of the bat and a 3 run HR away from losing a great play every inning

its an enjoyment pal, not a problem. just like alcoholics, its because they enjoy to drink alcohol. everything now a days is considered a problem.

Having recently been on a losing streak myself, I can tell you its a really crappy feeling. Not just a losing streak but had I bet the opposite, it really would have been special. I seriously lost 16 of 20 outcomes to destroy my roll in my offshore. Just seriously hurt everything so I stepped aside. I'm back and I am hot. Said to myself I will continue to bet the Playoffs both NHL and NBA. Then will roll with some World Cup and shut everything down until football season.

You should never be "down". Ok.

Consider the money you lost as an investment or business venture. If you really needed that money or bet on credit, then, well, how can I put this, you already lost. Your investment failed. Do you wish to keep going because you have indicators suggesting a reversal of fortune. Be honest with yourself and consider the worst case scenario. If you can live with that then you are able to take another chance. If not, and you are blinded, you will realize that the only way this thing of ours works is because it needs losers. And there are far many more losers than winners.
