My Mum passed away a month ago hence me not being so active on here recently and as i was at the funeral, I had religious folk saying stuff like 'May she find a place in heaven' and jokingly saying that she wasn't a bad enough person to be going downstairs etc, Which led me to think at night, How do these nut jobs know where she may or may not be going now that she has died? To confirm if there is a heaven and hell or there isn't you would need to have died and came back, So basically it's guess work.
Where we end up when we die, Who knows? but to assume you know where we go is plain ignorant and stupid which makes my opinion stand on most religious folks being people who are scared of dying and in need of something to clutch onto.

Yea I find it odd that some don't believe in that but they believe in aliens. Go figure....There's nothing wrong with what makes others feel at peace or reasons for them to be outstanding people as long as they aren't hurting others.....
You would believe in a heaven and hell before you would believe in aliens would you?
if u say so.

These are the types of things people tend to say at times like these, whether they believe or not, because they feel you might. They also want to be as sympathetic and hopeful and kind as possible. And as is said, Christianity is the reiligion of hope. Ask yourself what you would say at a time like this. All other things really sound somewhat empty and hollow.
Second, if you are really interested, I would encourage you to read and listen up on it some. There are many good articles, books, and videos on this. And whether you put stock in it or not, listen to what some of the nonbelievers, such as Huxley, said at the end. Also, read especially what the atheists intellectuals that have changed their minds have to say. And for sure, read the Bible with an open and sincere mind.
Lastly, I hope you and your family have helpful friends to help you through this tough loss.

I do believe in a higher power. I don't believe some dude split any oceans in half, and I don't believe some other dude rounded up thousands of wild animals and took a big boat ride.
I think when I go to Heaven, I will be able to roll in the grass with lions. I'll be able to fly like an eagle. We'll be able to do anything we desire.
I'll be able to sit down with my sister and smoke a big fattie with her.
It'll be awesome!

I always wonder in the first verses of the bible where it states that God created this and God created that, where did God come from? It seems as though that should be the first verse of the bible.

I don't see how any reasonable person could be anything but agnostic.
One thing that I always found interesting about the bible though is how the events explained in the book of Genesis match the chronology of evolution. The order isn't intuitive and of course any revisions of Genesis were done well before there was a Charles Darwin so it makes you wonder
