I am good at money management and strategy in the first 1-2 hours in the casino but lose control after that. Let say I plan to bet only on the pass line in craps with odd. Then later on, I change to come bet and place bet and lose and it happen every time. Appreciate any advice.

The key is to not drink.  That is my weakness.  If I don't drink I do great because I don't take risks.  When I get fukked up I screw up big time.  I play blackjack.  I'm going to Vegas for NFL opening weekend.  I gotta stay away from the tables.

my friend is a good poker player, usually makes money and then blows it all on blackjack.

Know your strengths, know your weaknesses if my advice.

Drinking, or not drinking, that's the answer.

Do not even begin to think you can use clear judgement while loaded or getting loaded.

Crap table or slots, nobody cares. The place you really get looked at, of course, is the blackjack table.

Best way around that, is to show up with a drink. Of course, YOUR drink doesn't even have to have booze in it. It could be tea. Obviously, don't show up with a tall 12-oz. glass of tea and pretend it's bourbon. Small glass, and when you put your drink order in, tell the gal "I'll have another Jack and water". Trust me, you shouldn't be able to get tanked drinking comped drinks.

You should have your BJ play down cold. Basic play, pair splitting, hard/soft hands should be second nature to you. A few drinks should not mess you up.

Don't stay more than an hour. Don't lose more than 1/2 of your money on the table. Even if your winning, set a time limit. You stay longer, they can tell you're grinding. You get behind/down, stop toking/tipping, NOBODY is going to want you at that table anyway. Get up, walk away, and wait for the next shift...............

I leave most of the bankroll in the room safe along with any ATM cards.I play with a limited amount and try to make something happen with that for a couple sessions.Any good win I cash out and make a deposit to the safe.

If losing it only takes a couple trips up to the room to realize I'm on tilt and it's time for dinner no matter how much I had to drink..And usually I'll have a small parlay on the late BBall games for the action so it's eat in the room and watch tv and no desire to head back downstairs..

Yeah it sounds boring as all hell, but I need the discipline to last a week In LV (NFL wk 1) every year.

Have done some all-nighters though and woken up with chips on the desk and trying to remember how I got them.Good Mornings..

    The 25% rule...

If you are up at a table, don't leave.  It's a winning table and there is no telling how far your winnings can run.  Instead, utilize the 25% rule.

If you are up $400 at that table and your winnings slip to only $300, you have lost 25% and it is time to leave.

On the other hand, if your $400 in winnings grows to $2,000 at that table, continue playing.  If your winnings should slip to only $1500, you have lost 25% of your maximum winnings and it is time to leave the table.

NEVER leave a winning table yet ALWAYS protect your Bankroll.

Kamikaze Craps is the way to go.

    PRESS!  PARLAY! MORE BEER!

Just kidding, what Golden Goose said is good.

The way the casino sees it is the longer you play the  more likely the house edge will prove itself.

This includes Don't Bettors. The common misconception is that they're playing 'with the house' but that's not true. The house is booking the Don't action, too.

    Thanks for your input.
I rarely drink when I play in the casino. I know I need discipline and money management with a good strategy in order to win. I keep trying and trying but still not get it yet. I am almost there but It is so hard. What should I need to do to achieve my goal 100% in discipline and self control?

Your problem is you lose focus after about an hour, you get impatient, and you make bad decisions on impulse.  You may win at this point, but you probably won't have the discipline to quit while you are ahead.

Gamble for an hour, then take a 30 minute break, and gamble another hour.

Perfect example just this year. Wife simply wanted to stay at a hotel casino resort for her birthday, have brunch, go to the pool, meet up with friends and watch the games (this is January we usually go to Vegas for the Wild Card or Division playoffs, but stayed home this year). Day is going great, gets better for her. I'm at the poke table and I get a text from her to say come meet her at a machine she plays. She says she just won $1200 on slots and asks for my advice. I say lets go back to the room. Proceed to take a $1000 and put it away in the safe and say, 'here, play with this $200. If you lose its all good, if you win, even better. but your taking this grand home with you." We proceed to have sex and then head back down. She pisses away that $200 in like 10 minutes. But says she wants to keep on playing. I tell he its not a good idea but her alcohol level is now increasing and she isn't the most pleasant person when drunk. Proceeds to get more money. Pisses away another $400, so now she's down to $600 in winnings and at this point decides to call it a night. I go decide to play poker and win about $500 playing in a 2-5 NL game then go to bed. Next morning I just want to sleep in, she says She goes downstairs to go to the pool. It starts raining, so no pool. She proceeds to lose the rest of the $600 and about another $300 of her own cash.

You go to a casino to win. When you win, its time to retire. I really like that 25% rule idea, very similar to my mindset. Every time I go play poker, I will leave whenever I have reached my goal. There was one spot when I literally sat down played one hand and got up because I had tripled up. For me, I didn't care if I was leaving a winning table, I met my goals.

Thorpe, you are right. I lose my patient after the first 2 hour then I changed my bet strategy. I hope I will be back very soon and say to all of you that I made it. I win myself and beat the casino.

    Another thing: 90% rule

Let's say you strart with $1000. You get to $1900.

    TIME TO GO. WHY?

I have seen so many people think "Man, only one more $100 bet, and I've doubled my money!"

.................and you know the rest. Lose. $1800. I'll just double up, $200.................and I'm leaving.......................$1600

Okay, $200 was crazy, I'll just bet $100.....................$1500

Now, you've gone from $1900 to $1500 in three hands

    Quit at 90%!

Unless you're playing poker or blackjack(and counting), never step into a carseino.

Never been a fan of these casino games. I do like roulette though. I turned a losing Vegas trip into a winning one on my last night in like a 5 minute span. But as far as blackjack, craps, 3 card poker and that go, NO THANKS.

Playing blackjack its really really easy to have a great money management system.

Basically its to buy in for whatever and stick green 25 dollar chips in your pocket the second you win them and keep playing with the red 5 dollar ones on the table.  So you just never play with greens and always toss them in your pocket no matter what and let them add up and only play with reds.

Works great with how I like to play BJ too even though I rarely touch table games.

If you can find 2 or 3 dollar BJ tables and do the same thing with 1s and 5s that works too!

I don't live near a casino... and never have.  So it used to be always a road trip with family or friends.  That is the problem I had.

So you are there with friends, and you are there to gamble.  I would generally do well at blackjack in the first hour... or less.  Double my bankroll no problem usually.  Just luck?  maybe.

So there I am with a doubled bankroll usually and everybody wants to play another hour or two.  What should I do?  hang out and drink?  No I gambble more and give it back.

I know when to quit, but it simply is impossible.  I have not set foot in a casino in maybe 20 years.

This is my weakness, I love the action and electricity at a hot craps table. Getting people amped up, cheering, high fives comaradarie there is no better feeling for me.
