Abeer's mother told her relatives before the murders that, whenever she caught the soldiers staring at Abeer, they would give her the thumbs-up sign, point to her daughter and say "Very good, very good." Evidently this had concerned her and she made plans for Abeer to spend nights sleeping at her uncle's (Ahmad Qassim's) house. According to an affidavit later filed by the FBI, Green discussed raping the girl in the days preceding the event.
On March 12, 2006, the soldiers (from the 502nd Infantry Regiment) at the checkpoint had been drinking alcohol and discussing plans to rape Abeer. Five soldiers of the six-man unit responsible for the checkpoint left their posts for the Qasim farmhouse. (The sixth,SergeantAnthony W. Yribe, was charged with failing to report the attack but did not otherwise participate). Of the five, four of the soldiers were alleged to have directly perpetrated the attack, while Howard acted as lookout. In broad daylight, they walked to the house (not wearing their uniforms) and separated Abeer and her family into two different rooms. Green then murdered her parents and younger sister, while two other soldiers raped Abeer. Green then emerged from the room saying "I just killed them, all are dead". He then raped Abeer and shot her in the head. After the rape the lower part of Abeer’s body, from her stomach down to her feet, was set on fire. The fire eventually spread to the rest of the room and the smoke alerted neighbors, who were among the first to discover the scene. One recalled "The poor girl, she was so beautiful. She lay there, one leg was stretched and the other bent and her dress was lifted up to her neck. "They ran to tell Abu Firas Janabi, Abeer’s uncle, that the farmhouse was on fire and that dead bodies could be seen inside the burning building. Janabi and his wife rushed to the farmhouse and doused some of the flames to get inside. Upon witnessing the scene inside, Janabi went to a checkpoint guarded by Iraqi soldiers to report the crime.
The Iraqi soldiers immediately went to examine the scene and thereafter went to an American checkpoint to report the incident. This checkpoint was different from the one manned by the perpetrators. After approximately an hour, some soldiers from the checkpoint went to the farmhouse. These soldiers were accompanied by at least one of the perpetrators.

I dont get the jokes in this thread..pretty classless.
I think if someone in the military commits a crime in a foreign country they should be prosecuted in that country, those guys dont deserve to stay in a jail here and they should serve their time in the country they did the crime.
I dont know the details of what happened to them outside the court proceedings but that is just as disgusting as anything I see from other countries that are considered barbaric (Africa etc)

Surprised you were taken off course by the jokes, Wall. I mean if you read the "draw Mohammad" thread, I was called a muslim and a terrorist sympathizer because I simply made a point that not all muslims are violent, American-hating mongrels, and a good sized portion didn't deserve to be discriminated against.
I'm surprised nobody has told those of us that actually took this piece serious to "get out of this country if you don't like it then," yet. I can hear thecentaur right now yelling "anti-American" all the way from the P-box..

this is horrible, these types of incidents are not uncommon. however disclosing one to a court martial and a court martial ruling is who and how this was all revealed be an interesting story. they estimate over 5,000 from 2000 to 2014 us service men women have been raped in the military by us service personel. a 100th of those cases actual make it to court martial

Thin Red Line.
warning this aint for eyes of a child but for eyes of those who wish to understand what we are up against in fighting the jihad extremeists. https://www.inquisitr.com/330504/ambassador-stevens-was-raped-before-his-murder-reports-claim/
this report documents five such acts done by the muslim extremists to enemy while chanting a verse in the k'ran: "subdue and humilate our enemy" war is a nasty buisiness and should be done after all other options are exhausted, but once we engage in this form of abomination we commit to a kill take no prisoner ideology
don't be surprised at the amount of horror these reports.

barbaric behavior is what that side of the world is all about.
we look at them and scorn why do women wear veils? why do they have to accompanied by a man when they walk to a market.? and all the laws governing women, in their lands. Because their beauty in a poor girl is a curse not a blessing, there they act like animals and this is normal behavior. laws were made to counter this behavior. American public is sheltered to the way it is there , I am not sure if this is good or bad. but I understand the difference.
a short story by nathanial hawthorne comes to mind. it can be found in mosses of old manse . the tail of two Drs. and two lovers. one dr. found a way to protect his daughter of this brutality by making her without her knowledge poisonous to anyone. he allowed a decent man to court her and he too became poisonous and immune to her venom, however the other dr. jealous revealed this to the lovers. and it killed the daughter to learn what her father had done. all to the glee of the "good " dr. it ended this is the upstart of your experiment.
no these are not justified, but i see here a tradgedy of nieve public, five kids that when growing up could be described as good kids and didn't get into much trouble sent to war zone exposed to realities that destroyed those kids and what remained when they came back, animals. we sent a generation to fight this in a way americans are not ready for. America is great at big war big bombs airplanes kill people and break things. America is very poorly trained in a enviroment of close proximity to an enemy. our values here and reality there is way too much for young kids to face, and the va can not begin to address the problems these kids come back with. The waiting list to see a dr. at the va is near 2 years recieve counseling 3 years. these kids have no idea how to face the horror of way it is, we never learned our lessons from vietnam. we still have attitudes this like a john wayne flick in ww2,
the difference, in ww2 we wanted to win at all costs, since 1964 we just want to wars to continue and be perpetually at war. the region there has perpetually been at war for nearly 3 millinia there laws were developed to protect the most important recourse " "the mother of the future fighter and martyr.

"Fight Fire With Fire" - phrase - Use the weapons or tactics of one's enemy or opponent, even if one finds them distasteful.
"Sometimes you have to crack a few eggs to make an omelette"
I'm sure you currently enjoy your freedoms - Freedom to profess your opinions on a sports gambling website, correct? Freedom to practice whatever religion it is you practice, correct? I'm assuming you enjoy doing this, correct? You care for your wife/girlfriend/boyfriend (let's hope if it's the latter, you're not planning a trip to the Middle East anytime soon)
Now.....
Do we need to continue this conversation? If so, it's (currently) your right to do so, but, for how long, my friend, how long?

You are mixing issues, rationalizing abuse as you are is as disgusting as the act itself.
There is no hiding or excuse for that behavior, in war or not..because some other country does bad things or not.
Take responsibility and dont rationalize abhorrent acts like this.
So you condone rape and innocent killing so you can make breakfast. Nothing like comparing abuse and death to making breakfast.
As a country MOST of us hold ourselves to a higher standard, I am seeing that MOST does not include yourself.
First off, I'm more of a brunch man myself....
Secondly:
"War Is Hell" ~ William Tecumseh Sherman
Everyone wants to be so "Politically Correct" nowadays and enjoy their hot dog, but nobody wants to see how it's made....
And nobody's "condoning" anything, or "rationalizing" it either. You can't just blanket that statement and then wash your hands of it. Whether you like it or not, we are technically at "war" with a certain element - and innocent lives on both sides of the equation need to be considered....
Was it wrong? - Morally, "Yes", but does S#!T happen with a bunch of soldiers where every day could be their last? "Yes"....
Is it "morally" right? NO!!! But, would you prefer the alternative? Do we need to take a look back at the "Japs" and "Nazi's"? I'm sure there was some "shenanigans" going on with them by American soldiers, and vice versa - just not cameras everywhere and a liberal media "machine" to point it out 24/7.........
Like I said - S#!T happens, and it's always going to happen. But, sometimes, more often than not, maybe for the greater good.......
War
HUH!!!
Good God y'all
What is it good for?
Absolutely nuthin'..........

Just to clear this up, you literally said that it is justifiable for American soldiers to rape and set fire to innocent Muslim families because they are stressed and in fear of their lives. You used the cracking eggs to make an omelette metaphor in comparison with rape and murder of innocent people. And then you brought in being overboard with political correctness...when discussing rape...rape...
Probably the most disgusting shitt I've ever read on Covers.
What the f**k is wrong with you? You're a f**king psycho, dude.

Much like a couple of other left-wing rabble-rousers on here, you read a couple of buzz words that set you off and then ran with your own agenda. Let's all calm down, take a deep breath, and listen for a moment.....
No, not "justified" (as rape never would be), but maybe more, let's say, I can feel more "sympathetic", much the way I would let a salty WWII vet scream about the "Krauts" or "Japs", or a Vietnam vet would the "person". I'm sure you had an Uncle/Brother/Dad/Grandpa or somebody who fought in one of those wars, and maybe they regaled you with some stories.....
"De-Humanizing" your enemy is a long standing practice that didn't start and won't end with our generation.
If the "brown man" with the "beard and the towel on his head" was on the news every night for saving children and puppies from burning buildings instead of coldly executing our sons/brothers/husbands, etc, then, I'm sure we'd have a different opinion about what I would consider "collateral damage" done to their people.
If you have a problem with that, then so be it - I don't think this commentary would change your opinion......
