I'll have a pint halfway through trivia tonight, comped Macallan 12 on the rocks if we win (comped for winning). Wednesday night, 1/2 pitcher of Coors and a bourbon with bitters. Nothing on Monday or Thursday. Weekends are, shall we say flexible. During college football season, nothing on Saturday until 5:00 kick PST (missed more than a few kickoffs because of this. Sunday varies upon Saturday's intake. I believe I won't be alone on this one. This time, I'll stop after 1/2 time of a pro football game or end of golf since I hate starting off a Monday with a hangover.
What say you?

12 at the bar. 17 and 21 at the house.

Jamo is my go to when i'm pounding 'em. Sometimes i'll to Bushmills to honor the wife's Northern Ireland protestant roots. A bar the boys frequent was pushing this Teeling on us and saying they were out of Jamo. Then one day i'm shooting the dirt with the manager and I ask, "When the h3ll are you guys getting more Jameson in?" He tells me they've got plenty but he's just been trying to get rid of the Teeling. Then he cracks a bottle of Jameson and pours me two on the house.

In my younger days when in the military and hitting clubs Tanqueray on the rocks with a twist of lime was my libation of choice. No mixer needed.
That progressed into Alabama slammers when going out with the after work crowd in my thirties and early forties.
Now that I am fifty four, I've cut WAY BACK and it's no more than TWO drinks and then it's Jack and Coke. As Pierce Bronson said in After The Sunset..."If it was good enough for Frank, it's good enough for me" An occasional Modelo Especial never hurts either.

No, it was technically better than the Jamo but like I said, Jamo is what I order when i'm doing some serious drinking. I'll do shots and/or drink Jamo and cokes. Teeling is a sipping whiskey. Not really meant for mixing/pounding shots. Plus we would get a discount on everything but our discount didn't go for the Teeling because they were trying to recoup their loot on it.

2-3 pints of Smirnoff a day at the height of my alcoholism. I didnt even like it. But it was the only decent vodka that came in plastic bottles to hide around the house without making the clanking noises that you get with bottles. Those were dark days for me.
Unfortunately I cant drink like a normal person anymore. I crossed that line. First drink and I cant stop.
Sucks guys, but it's better than drinking myself to death.
Enjoy your booze fellas. I miss it sometimes

Ex-wife (due to alcoholism) would use the "hide in plain site" routine. I'd go looking (like a co-dependent d*pshit) for bottles, but she would put it in a clear water bottle. Clever.
She's been sober 10 years.

You're doing what's right for you. I went 7 months dry after my first marriage & just over 3 years while trying to rescue my 2nd. My 2nd ex now has been sober for about 15 years & I'm happy for her. These days I pick & choose my spots. Like many, I can't see stopping once I get started, so I just abstain. Some weeks I may just have a beer or two........others are a bit more colorful. I never cared for scotch or bourbon whiskey, so my go-to is usually some VO or Crown. My preferred is tequila. I usually keep some anejo handy (DJ/DJ1942, Clase Azul.......so many more now than even 10 years ago) for when I watch a good game.
Getting old is not for the weak. My body just doesn't handle hangovers like it used to, & I certainly don't go with the "hair of the dog" routine anymore. On average, I have one "rough" night a week. Volume on those nights? 5-6 beers & 5-10 shots.......
BTW...........be careful with "Space Dust". I'm not much of an IPA fan but that is tasty & potent.

Are you on the West Coast? Pac NW? Space Dust is one of my favorite beers. Elysian is one of my favorite breweries.
