Sell or give away as much furniture as possible. Simply more advantageous buy other furniture than transport it across the country.

Same with clothing. Get rid of half of it because you really only wear half of it anyway. And you'll want new stuff for your new life.

Money. Whatever figure you have in mind, DOUBLE IT. Most people way under-budget for the actual amount of cash you will blow through.

u need a fortune for california. its a joke how much it takes to live there. LA San diego, etc most expensive cities. i couldnt any apartments under 1300 in san diego when i was considering the move for a job. you need to be making some serious cash if you live there. 2500? thats pennies
