There is one good thing about betting parlays though....built in money management.
Let's say you're up 5k going into Sunday....you bet a $200 5 teamer If you lose it's not much of a deal. I know all too many people who make 5 $200 bets on Sunday and go 0-5 -1100. You're actually +800 betting the parlay and if you get lucky then great.

disagree, with a caveat. if you only rarely bet (a few times per year), then a 3--5-team parlay is a good way to make some decent coin. if you wager frequently, then obviously straight wagering is preferable
years ago I did just this as I only wagered 2 or 3 times a year. of course I usually lost, but it was only about $300-$500 each time. but one bowl season I won $4500 and a few years later on opening cfb weekend I won $13,000 (I hit a 5-teamer and a 4-teamer)
i'm sure I came out ahead over the years, but even if I broke even, hitting those large ones all at one time was well worth it

also, there was a guy who posted last year in the cfb forum who strictly did ml 3 or 4-team parlays and who made a profit almost every week--not a lot but a few hundred.
I think he only had two losing weeks, then he disappeared before the bowl season and hasn't returned.

If you parlayed the two Underdogs with the highest moneyline you would have: (based on $100 wagered per parlay)
Won the parlay 18 times for a profit of $11,376.27 Won one game, Loss one game 94 times for a loss of $9,400.00 Loss both games 67 times for a loss of $6,700.00
Bottom line is if you bet the two largest underdogs each day you would have lost $4723.73
Also while I was looking at 2013 I asked myself if having a Left handed pitcher verses a Left handed pitcher made any difference in the under and over outcome. I suspected under might occur much more often than over... Boy was I wrong...
In 2013 there were 246 games where a Left handed pitcher faced a Left handed pitcher...
112 games were under... 12 games were a push... 122 games were over...
Now I am going to figure up what the outcome would be to parlay the top two favorites everyday...

Won the parlay 67 for a profit of $8440.47 Won one game, Loss one game 94 times for a loss of $9,400.00 Loss both games 67 times for a loss of $6,700.00
Bottom line is if you bet the two largest favorites each day you would have lost $9659.53

i'm not a big parlay bettor but don't look too down upon those who do them. Sometimes a $5 parlay can help someone recover from the string of straight $100 bets that keep losing.
hey the crow I know you from sbr...do you still hate life? one day your life won't be terrible. Just stop with all the negativity

If you have 6 picks and dont think you are gonna hit at least 4/6 (minimum to make money), would it be that far fetched to think you are gonna hit 6/6 once in awhile? Therefore, instead of only straight bets, skim a little off the top of each and make a 6 teamer. You were gonna lose some of that money anyway.....but if you hit 6/6, you get a 45-1 return.......

If you think you're going to line bet all your selections in a parlay you just should not gamble because you're clearly delusional
ML parlays is where the money is at. Don't do it religiously but regularly when you see clearly the odds in your favour and can double your money. That's where the success is. I'd rather take 4 ML favourite selections instead of one line.
