if you google fresno shoting, there are many articles about it all over the country. the search results go on for at least three pages. i quit looking at 3 pages. there's already a wikipedia page about it.
on the other hand, if you google mass shootings, you'll see what's underreported. there have been more than 90 so far in 2017, 10 of which have involved three or more deaths just within the last month
shootings involving scary brown people or those other scary religions are always reported more than others. the media, trump and similar courses know they can make people irrationally fearful when these acts involve minorities.
being irrationally fearful is no way to go through life.

but why is murder newsworthy? or why should it be?
1. it's a tragedy. but this would apply to most murders equally so one should not be reported any more than another for this reason. of course, school shootings or murders involving kids would be more newsworthy as they are more tragic.
2. it involves a famous person. these murders are different and more interesting to people. this is why hernandez gets more publicity than others.
3. it happened in your community/it could happen to you. people are always interested in significant things that might happen to them. but religious motivated murders are really a small percentage of murders in this country. most are people who know each other and have some issue or two idiots that escalate a situation and there's a gun around.
4. it's a large scale event. obviously when more people are killed, it is more newsworthy.
5. there's something different or unique about it. the facebook murder got more publicity than it should but posting a murder on facebook is unique. some nutjob yelling some religious stuff is something but not nearly as interesting these days.

As for the original title I get the motive. I do not condone this as violence begats violence . but at least I can understand the thinking. He did not like white people. Got himself all worked up and likely drug induced rage and went out and killed white people. I understand this I do not like this but at least their is a grain of logic . same as when a white guy shoots minorities . both sides deserve death as they deal in death.

I don't disagree with most of what you said. The disturbing part, to me, is the randomness in how some religious nutjob unleashes his hate upon the public. AH did himself.......but the FB idiot & this idiot wasted people they had no prior relationship with. It's every bit as disturbing as the poor kids that become victims in drive-by's. The fact that the media gets to pick & choose which incidents they find the most attractive to promote is sick.........the fact that they have so many choices on any given day is even sicker.
