pucku....I absolutely think about it. Drove legally drunk in college on occassion and have driven a vehicle drunk probably 3 times in as many years. I feel nothing but SHAME when I think about it and have no intention of doing it again. Aside from the possibility of losing my career with a DWI/DUI, I know its possible that I can get an innocent person killed. I also know that words are just words. I've made changes to my life before so I know I can make some now.

I wish you all the best. Been sober since 98. Best decision of my life. Did 6.5 years in the Army... Probably would have made it a career if I had not destroyed that option with alcohol... Please... Prove you are smarter than me. I learned the hard way that drinking WILL catch up to you. It is not a matter of IF alcohol can destroy a career, it is WHEN alcohol will destroy a career.

I REALLY THINK YOU CAN BEAT IT BECAUSE YOU SOUND LIKE A VERY STRONG GUY. BUT YOU MAY NEED ALITTLE HELP. JUST REMEMBER ,  IT TAKES A BIGGER MAN TO ASK FOR HELP

Good to hear Irish. Don't let people marginalize your efforts. You seem to be taking the right steps. I don't see why you need to pay someone hundreds of dollars so you can tell them what you just told us.

you don't have to quit drinking, (maybe you do) you need to control it. keep track of every drink you have, even if you write on paper. how many, how many hours etc... 

after awhile you will be like ok i had 4 drinks within a 3 hour time frame. and so on. it's better than drinkin to the point where you have no clue how much and how long. 

not sure if this makes any sense, but helps me during the work week anyways. bol 2 ya man.

Exercise, exercise, exercise.  Exercise helps me stay away from herb.  Hope it can do the same for you w/ alcohol.  Good luck man.  Hope you can do it.

Drink less and smoke more weed.  You'll be so happy you did.  The difference is amazing.  The weed high is better, you'll be healthier for it, and you'll actually be in control of what you do and say.  Everything is cooler, more beautiful, more intense, funnier, etc.  You can look at the sky and just appreciate the vastness of it.  You can hold intelligent conversations if you're not too high.  It's also a proven fact that people under the influence of the herb are very good drivers.  Look it up if you don't believe me.  The world would be such a better place if the general public would quit drinking and take up the herb instead.  It would be a much, much better place.  It's too bad that more people don't know this.

Go for it Irish. Your family should be everything to you. Alcohol, while great from time to time, rarely does good things long term......

just take a bar when u go out you only have to drink half as much or a 1/4 of what you normally drink and youll be fucked up

I hear ya dude I had a thread about a co-worker who had a seizure a few weeks ago at my work when he quit drinking.  Moderation is important.

all this blather about seizures. If you're BMI is under the amount of alcohol you consume it might happen. Hard licker is another story.

Booze is gone after a good workout sweat and 48 hours. Pill, well that's another story. You're in the suck for 5 days roller coaster riding an up/down heart rate. You'll live - just a chemical departing the system and the nervous system resetting.
