I am not even remotely saying that what Sandusky did was anything less than pure eveil.

Does me saying that that the childhood obesity epidemic also has a terrible burden on children's lives mean that what Sandusky did is not bad?

Why is it an either or thing? So if one is bad than the other can not also be bad? Come on man use your head a little here.  Do you really think that I am saying that raping a kid is not bad?

It is just that it is easy to not realize the impact that it will have future generations because it is a gradual process?

I only mentioned childhood obesity because it was mentioned earlier in the thread. And like it or not it seemed to take over the thread to a certain extent (about half way through) and so I thought it was not so far out of bounds to comment on it.  I was not defending his stance or arguing his stance.  I was simply stating that I agree that childhood obesity is a serious issue and that it is also a scenario that can have long lasting effects on a childs future however, you do not hear it talked about very much. My post was more to point out that it is a serious issue that I think many people can and do overlook. 

Now for all of you that want to twist my words and view it as saying that being a pedophile is ok.   well that is on you.  I am not sure what else i can say.

as far as the guys here who have said parents feeding their kids sugar is on par with what sandusky has done, need some help.

You also might want to start putting some of that blame on the friggin dirtbag companies who are making all this crap and selling it to us knowing its very bad for you. I would guess the majority of people in our country really dont know what foods are bad for you and just think, hey if a company is selling it to the public it must be okay to eat.

It would be great if all we could buy was healthy food, because thats all companies were allowed to sell, but thats not gonna happen. Look how bad alcohol and cigs are, yet both are still legally sold everyday, yet the govt and companies know that both are very bad for all of us.  Wonder why that is? couldnt have anything to do with  and the drug companies getting to make all the nasty drugs to heal us from all the bad things we put into our bodies?

 

And i would bet my left nut, the guys comparing sugar to sandusky, ate tons of sugary things growing up themselves.

So to mattbrot, i say who is really at fault, the parents or the dirtbag companies who keep making and selling us the bad shit. You sure as hell dont see the giant companies who make95 percent of the foods we all eat everyday, saying hey, from now on all were going to sell is good healthy foods and nothing bad is going to come out of our plants anymore.

You are definitely correct in that the obesity epidemic has numerous layers and plenty of blame to go around. I do not even want to debate who is more at fault because I do not know and it is more of a philosophical debate.

The reason I raised the issue (or should say contributed to the ongoing debate) is because it was raised earlier in the thread as an issue and I was just confirming that it is in fact a real public health issue that is having real effects.
