Just curious, which languages do you speak or understand?

Maybe there is a thread already about this, but I'm just curious.. 

Native .....     Spanish

2nd language.....     English.

I know what you mean... but let me tell you, google translators sucks!!!..... so if you are using it for other purposes, I don't recommend it.

French, that's in my top list of languages I want to learn.

English
Fortran
Cobol
Basic (Many different ones)
C#
C++
Pascal
VB
.Net

And of course good ol' Machine Code.

I know some of those my self  ....  did they still teach PASCAL  and COBOL?????

GERMAN....   don't know if I can learn some of that... sounds difficult to me.

Brings up a good point about the American education system as we are fairly pathetic with speaking other languages...

I had about 6 years of Spanish, 5 in High School, 1 in college

I work with Americans, even that my english is not perfect, I have to say that they always respect the effort I put trying to comunicate with them, since most of the guys I work with, doesn't know much spanish.

I kind of doubt it.  I started out before there were any GUI's out there. You did everything yourself and looked at a blinking cursor on a screen.

Damn whippersnappers programming by dragging, dropping and copying now.

Good ol'days.... and kids now think that the computer is slow....

And the coding is soooo sloppy now.  There is so much storage and memory now they don't even try to be efficient. Let's see most programmers today program with just 4K of memory.

That's why even with the speedster computers now, programs can be so slow.   The software is just bloatware now. If they chopped the programming down about a third it would make all the difference in the world.

Oh well...........

I think I still have some of those 5  1!4 flexible disks....
