It’s that time of the year again. For a third straight spring, Jim Harbaugh is taking his Michigan football team overseas. The Wolverines depart Thursday -- after players finish final exams -- and will spend a week in South Africa, exploring the scenic resort town of Cape Town and Johannesburg.Like last year, no practices are scheduled. Michigan used up all 15 of its NCAA-allotted sessions in March and April, in Ann Arbor, and will use this trip strictly as a sightseeing excursion. There is one small football clinic planned in Cape Town during the week stay.
“They bring the current team together,” starting left guard Ben Bredeson said last April during Michigan’s trip to France. "We just went through spring ball together. Now this is our last push together before the summer, when we go our own ways. We’re all on campus, but there’s not (much) organization other than lifts.“This is just the biggest team camaraderie event I’ve ever seen. I think it’s really important to next year.”
