Anyone else find it ironic that most black people voted for Obama because they judged him based on the color of his skin and not by the content of his character?

Perfect............IF most of them discover they've made out worse under his regime, then perhaps the next time we have a situation like this the rest of the voting public won't be snookered by a particular group wanting to make history. Hopefully the novelty will have worn off.

  Then again, he could turn out to be a stellar prez & we prosper.......& I end up being part of the crowd that re-elects him.

If 95% of white people voted for McCain, it would be considered racism.  Yet it's ok for 95% of the Black population to vote for Obama and no one says a word.

If 95% of white people voted for McCain, it would be considered racism.  Yet it's ok for 95% of the Black population to vote for Obama and no one says a word.

It just amazes me how people think a certain way and then go try to find things to back that up rather then examining the facts and then coming to a conclusion.
 
FACT:  88% of the black population voted for Kerry in 2004 (and it was white guy v. white guy if I remember correctly).
 
FACT:  98% of the black population voted for Obama.
 
FACT:  That's a 10% difference
 
Of that 10%, might you at least give some credence to the fact that some of these 10% (who voted for Bush in 2004 by the way) switched to Obama because they had enough of Bush and the republicans?  Don't you think that's possible? 
 
 
There were certainly some people who voted for him because of his race....but 1. stop throwing around this 98% B.S., and 2. I'm sure plenty of people voted for McCain because they couldn't vote for a black guy.
 
And trust me, these numbers are MUCH closer then anyone would care to think.  Let me also add that all of these people (who voted Obama cuz he's black or voted McCain because he's not) deserve to get skewered.
 
To say that "most blacks who voted for Obama did so merely because of skin color" (as NJDevils absolutely did) is one of the most irresponsible and embarassing statements I've read on covers.

Much of what you say is accurate, but as is the case with all numbers having to do with any derisive topic, they can be slanted to make ones own point.

I would think the increase in the percentage of blacks voting for Obama would not be as significant a factor in determing if race was the main reason for that vote, as would knowing just how many blacks voted for Obama in 2008, compared to how many voted Democratic in 2004. While I do not know those numbers, I believe that disparity would paint a clearer picture if Obama's race had something to do with how the vote broke down along racial lines.

Of course, there are other factors, such as the current state of the economy. Any democrat would have reaped the benefits of running in 2008, as witnessed by the elections across the country, regardless of that candidates skin color.

With that said, I believe that anyone who doesn't believe that Obama didn't benefit from a huge surge in African American voters, many of whom were motivated by race alone, are simply not being honest with themselves. Regardless, Obama will soon be the commander in chief of the greatest country in the world, and I'm sure the vast majority of the citizens hope our country has great successes under his guidance.

My question is this:  Did black people vote for Obama because he is the most qualified, prepared, and best candidate for president or did they vote for Obama because he is a black man and wanted to SEE HISTORY.  This nonsense about seeing or being a part of history is completely irresponsible if this is why you voted for Obama.  I am not racist by any means and am very open minded.  However, I would be quite curious to ask all the black people who voted Obama to state why they did so.  In my opinion, there would not be a real high percentage that would have substantial, valid points as to why they did so. I hope he is what we need because Lord knows Bush is an absolute corrupt idiot that has left him a huge mess to clean up.

Kerry got 88% of the black vote in 2004.  No doubt some voted for Obama merely because he was black, but it's somewhere between 1-8% based on the numbers.  You can't tell me there weren't some blacks who voted Bush in '04 and Obama in '08 because they were tired of Bush.  There absolutely were some of those. 
 
Did it happen?  Yeah.  Can you sit around and say "most voted for Obama cuz he's black?"  Not even close.
 
The dems get a HUGE majority of the black vote no matter who runs.

Why then was there record turnout for black voters?
 
Everyone likes to show percentages of how many blacks vote democrat , and thats great, its always a high percentage.
 
There was a HUGE turnout of black voters this time around and it was because Obama is black. So while the percentages might have been close the # of votes was way more than there ever were

I keep thinking of that youtube video where the black lady thinks once Obama is President that houses and gas are gonna be free. To me thats disturbing. I'll add that I didn't vote for Obama, because he's a Duval Patrick clone, and I didn't vote for McCain, although I would of voted for Lucas McCain.
With that said, I only hope Obama is true to his word and makes the tough choices that gets America out of this funct.
First on this list is every single US company that sent its manufacturing to Mexico or elsewhere should get taxed up the ASS. A CEO's bonus is more important than an American working, not in my book. And its exactly why I quit my job 6/07. The Gov't should make it extremely difficult for such companies. On the other hand tax reductions should be given to companies that have their manufacturing plants in the US to stimulate more jobs. I'd be surprised if anything in your house is made in America, maybe furniture or your car, thats it.
Good luck to Mr Obama because the ultimate goal is to get people back to work.

How come people always bring up how many blacks voted for Obama because of the color of his skin, but no one mentions how many people didn't vote for Obama because of the color of this skin??
 
I am confident this number is greater than most people would like to think. I honestly believe that if the DEMS put someone up there that was white, they margin of victory would have been even greater than it was.
