It's a part of life that everyone has to deal with. Some sooner then later. I was 20 when my mom passed suddenly and 34 when my brother passed suddenly. I can tell you that it does get easier to deal with over time. It takes time. Everyone is different. You will go through many different types of emotions and it is all completely normal. I can tell you that your dad will also need additional support from you or if you have any siblings. It's important to stay together as a family and be each other's support during this process. Especially in the 1st year as all the important dates on the calendar take their 1st pass without your mom. Its never good too lose your parents but you are 26 and by this age you should be at the point of not being easily influenced by friends with alcohol or drugs. This could be a problem for a teenager. This terrible experience will make you stronger Chris. Keep in mind no matter what ever happens to you in life. No matter what you're faced with nothing will probably be as bad as losing a mom. Don't keep everything inside. My advice is to reach out to someone you know that has lost a mom and talk. You have to talk to someone that has already been through so he/she completely understands how you feel and it's important that someone that hasn't been in your shoes is saying they understand when they don't.
It just takes time Chris. Life will be blur for a while but everything is going to be ok.
