It&#x27;s in the very early stages so I feel optimistic that there will be proper vetting in place eventually.  I do think something needs to be done.  I live in one of the most diverse regions of the country and there are Muslims everywhere (Newark, Paterson and Jersey City are all in the Top 10 of most ethnically diverse cities in the US).True Story: Before the election, my general practitioner brought up politics as he was doing his routine check-up with me.  He&#x27;s a native of Syria, and said he was not a fan of Trump, but would be voting for him because of his immigration stance and his hatred of the Clintons.He says, "There&#x27;s no way we should accept those refugees from my former country."I kept my mouth shut b/c I don&#x27;t discuss politics at work or in any other kind of professional setting.His logic is that his siblings and himself all immigrated here legally and he honestly believes that there&#x27;s a minority of them that will come here with ill intentions.  It will give the Syrians and Muslims a worse reputation than they already have.  Meanwhile I&#x27;m thinking, "The damage is already done; at least in my lifetime."  1st generation Immigrants that are open to discuss Trump&#x27;s immigration stance seem to be in favor of it from what I&#x27;ve experienced and heard.  I honestly believe that they see through the lies of the Liberal MSM and understand that he&#x27;s speaking of illegals.  It&#x27;s logical because these people have worked hard and done what was right/legal to form a better life in the greatest nation in the world (Sorry Swish, hahaha).  The only ones that seem to have a problem with it are Hispanics and Muslims.  If you&#x27;re here legally, you have nothing to worry about.

Muslim ban would do very little to stop terrorism according to Vox. According to FBI, most crimes and terrorist attacks are committed by American citizens in the US. 99% of all offenses would still happen even if all muslims are arrested.

well, it obviously does nothing to deter terrorism, nor is it designed to. it should make people who have no idea how our immigration system works but are scared of muslims happy.

the main thing is it appeases his base but it doesn't do anything to anger the muslim countries (such as the one where almost all of the 9/11 attackers came from) where trump does business.

Americans are afraid of terrorists. Who isn't? Some people from the Middle East happen to be terrorists. Therefore.........people take the leap. Same thing with the Mexican border. This is very true. I street run against traffic most every day and the majority of people are either texting when driving or looking down at their phone. I&#x27;ve had many many close calls from people swerving into the pedestrian lane because of this.

As a group the GD forum here has what appears to be some of the most open, accepting, kind hearted people. Hope many of you keep that viewpoint as you age. Wish i could. Quite different from the degenerate gamblers I seen over the decades in pool halls, tracks, sports books, casinos and all the gambling venues I&#x27;ve spent way too much time in. Honestly would like to why someone would want refugees allowed in the country? What is the benefit you see in them being here? The left would be well served to get that answer out there to help their cause. Alot of selfish people like myself don&#x27;t know the answer and really aren&#x27;t concerned about being called racists bigots or whatever insult you throw out there cause we don&#x27;t care about being liked welcoming or accepting. Were just apathetic if we don&#x27;t see a benefit to us.

Human beings are the same for the most part. They want a better

future for their children they want nice communities , clean houses ,

and nice things in them. They want to be secured from losing this when they finally get them. These refugees in Syria had this at one time. Those places in Syria that are in ruins were once great places to live.

for the most part it is not their fault Outside entities decided to destroy what they had. and instead of joining the fight they fled.

The peace accord brokered by turkey and Russia will allow them to return yes but to what? ruins. Most of these refugees assimilated into their new country as best they could but without a reconstruction act from the world super nations they will begin to develop the failed state mentality like Afghanistan or northern Iraq and will look to any that can secure what they wanted in the first place.

regardless of party affiliation, this manuever has to be a shot over the bow to terrorists from Trump. Sadly there are good people being held up and detained coming in from very dangerous places.

Hopefully this is temporary. Especially for Syrians. They just don't have the time to stay alive.
