Some notes in response to your comments....
I agree with your comments about being there, and the atmosphere. I did find that their computer stations were easy to use - and I did see the lines screen you are talking about In the upper right of the computer screen. The problem? It didn't update automatically - or quickly - and scrolling is ridiculous. You have to hit "page down" multiple times - it is slow. Im not saying it is impossible to use - but I think we can agree it is clunky at best - it is not what you would expect in todays day and age of the internet.
They did offer me a seat in the reserved area - and they were nothing but nice and accommodating the whole time. I didn't get free drinks but I am pretty sure I could have - but I just didn't ask.
Once again - Im not disagreeing with your post. I think most of the things that you post have to do with atmosphere and convenience - very important to a lot of gamblers. But I guess I was posting more about not only atmosphere and convenience - but also the tools that can make you profitable - things like instant information, good lines, and accessibility. The huge advantage in Vegas is that your money is safe - but you pay for that - through high prices and occasionally missing opportunities to win wagers.
For some - the setup in Vegas is great. Im just not that guy. Im not a "crystal ball" handicapper. Lines and prices and pennies make a HUGE difference - in fact most of the time the ONLY difference - in whether I am profitable or not. So in my opinion - Vegas is more like going to buy your house supplies at Target - you know you are going to find everything at one place - no risk - but you pay a little bit more. I am more of a coupon cutting drive around town to 10 places using every tool in my arsenal to save a penny kind of guy.
To each his own. The entertainment experience is top notch at Cantor and Vegas - but you pay for it.....

I would say simply inconvenience. If you want to bet several 500 dollar bets, you could. But you would have to do it early as the line on Sat and Sun was quite long. But you could definitely do this.
Im not sure that making 2k wagers is in the past. I was at one SB, with one persons experience. I was told that you couldn't do it through Cantor - but who knows - maybe you can. And maybe every other SB in vegas will take those wagers - Im really not sure.

OK - what if you bet 20K a game? You should "walk across the street" 10 times and do it again? Really? With possibly a different line?
That's absurd. You worked at Caesars Palace - you are telling me that a 2k bet limit is appropriate for a place like that?
Oh - and god forbid your bet wins - then you are running all around town to pick up the money? Jeesh. Sounds great compared to online!

Very good and insightful post.
The answer is that everybody is different and how you have it set up makes all the difference. But a very careful look at the risks / costs of moving money is a very important ingredient.

Once again - the 500 comment was made to me but disputed elsewhere in this thread and in a few emails people sent me. So your mileage may vary on that one.
And getting paid instantly - is pretty friggin good.

With an account. Read again. They will take large wagers if you have an account.

Don't know. But I can tell you - that I cannot imagine the live betting being usable based on the software and how clunky and slow it is. But to be fair - I never checked it out.
