I have no clue. I thought my PayPal password was very strong. It's scary when somebody can get into your checking account. Always try to keep my checking account under $1K to avoid this kind of stuff and check my account daily every morning.
What I did years ago was set up a "satellite" checking acct at my CU to use specifically for things like paypal (for Neteller initially). I only keep a couple dollars in it. When I use paypal I transfer what I need into that acct. Doesn't cost me anything extra........ I don't even have paper checks for that acct.

Update: PayPal refunded the money. They said the bad transaction was traced back to Kosovo. I had to reset all my PayPal security, password, secret questions. Not as horrible a nightmare as I thought. Just hope it's all over.
Did they pay for your NSF charges as well? I am in the same situation. Got 10 NSF charges

You talking NSF charges from my bank? My bank was really good about working with PayPal security. They had my money back into my checking account within a few days and no fees.

You see, you lose all credibility when you say dumb stuff like that. It's a bad idea if you still can't afford the purchase. It's a GREAT idea if you already have the money set aside for the purchase. The fact that you can't grasp this really tells me all I need to know.

Tmobile just sent me a text about the secondary cell phone security feature they want me to perform for free. Apparently the "Scam likely" calls are an attempt to access bank information, including paypal.
Probably a good idea to call them?
