Natalee Holloway is still missing

May 30th marks the 5th anniversary of Natalee Halloway's disappearance in Aruba.  The suspect admitted to the crime on videotape but the Aruban authority did nothing about it.

If the suspect had committed the crime on U.S. soil, I'm pretty sure he would be behind bars by now.

No hard evidence.. even if he admitted it on a video i am sure that can be put into doubt.

I traveled down to Aruba in December of 2005 and took a snorkeling and kayak expedition.  While on the expedition my friend asked our tour guide about Holloway and the guy simple said "She is dead."  It is crazy that the guy got off completely yet the people of Aruba know that he was guilty of murder or at the very least covering up her death.

Yes it is memorial day, and we should all reflect and honor our soldiers... but the loss of an 18 year old girls life on a school vacation to a shitty drug dealer is just as tragic... especially when he admitted to murder on a hidden camera and it does not hold up??

It is like I said, all the respect in the world for Veterans, my grandfather was a general and lost a lot of men, and can't even go to fireworks to this day as it reminds him of the bombs/explosions in Korea.  I take a lot of time today to reflect...

But come on an 18 year old girl... who if anything was out trying to have a little bit of fun... surely did not deserve to die

the funny thing is everyone talks about how money and fame make you aboce the legal system. Go to some of these other countries like Aruba etc. and found out what exactly a corrupt legal system is really about.

What do you expect from a Third World country? A legal system that is fair, just and above reproach? You don't even have that in the US. 

By the way, you don't need to leave the US to find a corrupt legal system. The only difference is that the bribes paid in the US need to be a lot bigger due to sheer greed and therefore they are easier to catch on occasion.

the point was there is no such thing as a perfect system but ours (although everyone complains about it constantly) is far better than most

That's how it should be. Just like Mexico is getting worse with crime for people going on Vacation there. 

Our governments should stop all tourism to places like Mexico and Aruba. How is that a Vacation when you have to watch your back every step you take. Not relaxing at all.

From what I have read about the Holloway case, the Aruban police wasn't exactly up to par in their "investigation" or lack thereof.  Looks to me like the Aruban authorities were "paid off" to keep quiet. The suspect's father was a high ranking judge, so draw your own conclusion.  Once again, the suspect confessed to the crime on videotape and nothing was done about it.

Why should the Govt step in and have to tell grown adults where they can or cannot go? I think the Govt has enough on it's plate as opposed to dictating where people take their well earned vacations. If you are going to spend the money on an international vacation then you should also take 15 minutes to do a little research on where it is safe to go.

I repeat, what do you expect from Third World countries? They are ALL dangerous places for tourists. There is a reason why they only show the beaches and hot tourist spots in most of the holiday brochures. Every day life in these countries is terrible for most.
