I guess the militant players have opened the "can of worms"
More and more patriotic fans are staying away by doing their own silent "protest"
Question is...Who is going to fold first?
Or is it too late? Or, Does anyone rally care what happens anyways?
Seeing the NFL implode would be good news to many longtime fans that see these ungrateful thug players as making wayyy too much money and need to be cut down to size and appreciate what they have.
Me, I could care less if the NFL cuts it's own throat by allowing the inmates to run the asylum.

It's so bad in the NFL ,,,that the Cleveland Browns, which gives away prizes to fans during games, selected an empty seat for a giveaway.
It is not known what the prize was, but whatever it was, it’s quite sad
the team has resorted to keeping fans happy at FirstEnergy stadium with
giveaways. What's even more sad is that the seat was empty.

When the NFL sided with the kneelers, they basically alienated half of their fan base. Agree with it or not, that's what happened. I could care less as I switched over to college football 2 years ago for capping purposes. It basically goes right down political lines. Red states think it's unpatriotic to kneel for the Anthem. Blue states think it's their right to kneel.

If I bet NewEngland/Atlanta doesn't mean I have to Watch NE/Atl.....
I call the book and I go to the Racetrack.I can't watch 50% of my college games on Sat. and it doesn't kill me..Most of the time I put the game on without Volume and some cappers say it's better not to watch the games as sometimes the Eyes Decieve.......As GoldenGoose might interject..........To Hellllll with Corporate FUKKKKs.

Everything is a Penalty , and 80% of the calls are subjective
I remember a Monday night game a few years ago where the touchdown got overturned for some strange reason and John Gruden confused said... "I don't understand how to play this game at all anymore..."

I quit watching the NBA over 10 years ago as it became a punk-fest............the NFL, with it's countless commercials, penalties for breathing on a guy, & political overtones, has found less time on my tv. It's tired.

MUGG - you hit the nail on the head... I dumped the NBA after growing up with Magic Johnson, Bird, McHale, James Worthy, and everyone all the way back to Jerry West. In 2000, I had Allen Iverson, Latrell Sprewell, Kobe & Shak, can't watch it anymore....
Also grew up with Joe Montana, Jerry Rice, Walter Payton, Barry Sanders and everyone going back to Johnny Unitas... Fast forward to today, I got Cam Newton, Blondie in NY, Desean Jackson, Von Miller (can play but still a clown), Josh Norman (same thing). I don't like these people, it's now a punk-fest. After week 2, of which the games thus far were pretty much un-watchable, I got the little shove I needed to turn it off and haven't watched a play since (previously a 45 year fan).
And for all you legal scholars that say "They have a first amendment right to kneel." The amendment applies to the government squelching free speech. NFL players are on the job and the people viewing are their customers, they don't have a legal right, but since the ownership is spineless, they'd rather jeopardize their product - which I found astounding because the owners are the greediest people on the planet. I predicted that Thursday of the week after the big kneel they'd put a stop to it but they whiffed and I was wrong. Enjoy the ratings and empty seats for failing to act.
Furthermore, I believe the NFL has 200 Vice Presidents... I'm amazed that when Kap pulled that b.s. in 2016, one of them didn't get the idiot Commish's ear and say "What happens if 20 players from every team do that"? During the Final Four the NFL should've been proactive and announced that all players will kneel or be fined and it never would've become an issue.

The Ratings suck , because the game play on the Field is Horrible ...
Anyone who has been watching Football for 15+ years knows the game has been ruined ...
Everything is a Penalty , and 80% of the calls are subjective
Commercials dominate the broadcast ...
KNEELING IS NOT THE PROBLEM ,
If KNEELING offends you , get over it

Unfortunately, it's the same with the NHL (your point about everything being a penalty.
As for the NFL, I think it's several things that contribute to viewership tanking.
1.) Changes to league rules has completely compromised the game.
2.) Although you disagree, these kneeling protests are having an effect on ratings.
3.) A lot of Millennials do not subscribe to cable/satellite/fios programming. From what I understand, they stream their TV through either Netflix, Hulu, Amazon or another online service.
4.) More millennials do not watch sports in general compared to previous generations.
I'm not sure how it is in other parts of the country, but around here seeing kids play sports outside (or even riding bikes) is a rare sighting. Technically, I'm a millennial b/c I was born in 85, but we were always outside when we were kids either playing hockey, football or basketball.

Seems to me to be a combination of a lot of things:
Pace of play/quality of play/entertainment - Some games go 3:45 now....insane. And it's a rare day when you have more than 2 or so really good games.
Nonsense factor - Football is about 20 percent of the broadcast. The rest is largely B.S. IMO. All the talk about politics and protests......all the extra sound.....video. It's hard to find a football game amid all the extra crap.
Demographics - Let's face it, they are changing. I used to devote half my Saturday and most of my Sunday to just football. Now I'm lucky to get in half of the game of my hometown team because all of the other crap going on. People are as busy as ever and trying to do as much stuff as ever. Football is time consuming and it suffers. Golf is dealing with the same thing around here.

supposedly there is about 12 actual minutes of football during a game. The rest is just the clock running and commercials etc for 3 hrs.
I think redzone has killed the ratings and fantasy football/ gambling. Why not just watch redzone and see all of the constant action and not miss a single good play?
unless its a primetime game like mnf why bother?

^^^^Messier makes another good point. When the Jets aren't playing, the only way to watch football is RedZone. I haven't watched a Prime Time game this season. This Thursday Night will be a FIRST.
