I was just wondering if anyone has any experience with paraneoplastic syndrome. It arises from cancer in the body and antibodies can attack certain parts of the body. The reason I ask is that my girlfriend's dad was just diagnosed with this. It is the neurological kind. It has affected his cerebellum and severely injured his brain function. It all started with him losing slight vision and it increased quickly. First, the vision and then all hell broke loose on the man. He now cannot see, talk, or walk and his life turned around in about 3 weeks. It strikes fast and it is so sad to see someone's life do a complete 360 in such a short period of time. The disease is very rare and it occurs in less than 1% of cancer patients. Which brings me to my question. Do any of you have any experience with this? Know someone who has had this disease? Know how bad it is and if it is curable. I am just looking for some answers from someone who may have experienced something like this and I figured that this may be a good place to check around. Thanks for all of your help.
