     They're getting bad.  I was at my dad's yesterday watching the Cleveland news (we live in NE Ohio) and when they would cut for a commercial break, all we saw were pharma ads.  One after another.  I swear there was one stretch of 5-6 in a row.

     As some of you are aware, this is a big sore spot with me.  They are shoving these poisons down our throats.  I've seen a commercial that praises the viewer for taking his meds every day, like they're some type of vitamins for healthier living.  One Walgreen's commercial has a motto that says "helping you live better with diabetes".  Since when is diabetes incurable?  Shouldn't their motto be "helping you conquer diabetes"?  It's as if they want to put you in the mind set that you will have to take our pills for the rest of your life, and we'll help you with that.

I know your point wasn't exactly about what I'm about to say but it did remind me of something.

In all of those commercials, be it for diabetes, blurry eyes, or anti-smoking medication, have you ever noticed all of the possible side effects.

In the commercials for Chantix, the anti-smoking medication, some of the side effects are suicidal tendencies and bad dreams. Other medications may talk about may cause liver disease, insomnia, etc, etc, etc.

How many times have you seen where the medication's side effects are worse than the problem you are trying to fix?

I had dinner with an old "friend" of mine a month ago, we "catch up" about every 6 months. I have been on her for years to quit smoking and she told me about taking Chantix a few months ago. She said it turned her into a different person. She had crazy suicidal thoughts for no reason, and random semi violent out bursts with her teen age daughter again for no reasonable cause. She finally realized it was the Chantix and immediately stopped, the episodes stopped soon after.

Crazy how a "medicine" can virtually turn your brain into somebody else. That garbage should be banned, there have probably been a few deaths caused by that.

I have nothing against taking medicine if it makes you better but the question I'd have is, What's the point of taking them if they have side effects? It's a simple case of one step forward two step back, You might eradicate pain of one nature but then you might get dizzy spells or start feel nauseous.

The other question I'd have is, How did people live their lives 50/60 years ago? If they didn't require all these medicines, Why do we? It's nothing more than brainwashing, and the worst part is even if the patient doesn't feel the need to take said medicines, There's always a worried family member who will fall for the doctor's tricks, It's incredible how this pattern of behaviour is able to function.

Old folks watch the news..Old folks take lots o' pills...Seems logical they would advertise they drugs durin' da news.

Your picture of the 1950s is based more on "Leave it to Beaver" than to reality.  

In the mid 1950s they mass-marketed a tranquilizer named Miltown that was highly addictive.  There were 36 million prescriptions written and a billion pills sold in the USA alone in 1 year.

In the 50s there were also the first drugs for hypertension and anti-psychotics.  And amphetamines were available over the counter and were used for weight control, depression, pep pills.etc..

Don't mind the Cialis ones with those hot Cougars though... the brunette in the photo booth can get the D all night.  And that blond in the Viagra ones can join

This government of ours wants you sick and they want you dead.. Real simple.. Look at the big picture.. Who owns the networks that run these commercials?? Big money in healthcare..

My favorite is for Farxiga. The commercial says "do not take if you are allergic to Farxiga"

I will be attending a funeral tomorrow.  A great friend of mine.  67 years old.  I worked with him for 10 years.  He retired about 5 years ago.  A little early.  Why?  Because he had been taking the drug lipitor for cholesterol.  The drug messed him up bad.  He developed ALS like symptoms.  Before taking it, this man looked like he was barely 40.  Built like a rock. To see what it did to him was sad.  DON'T TAKE MEDICATION UNLESS IT IS COMPLETELY NECESSARY.     RIP Mike.

You are correct sir.  I know very little about it.  So I ask you... do you know for a fact that you're basically f*cked once you have it, and there's nothing you can do but take the meds and change diet to delay the inevitable?

A buddy of mine took Chantix and said that he was as close to suicide as you can get.  Had the gun to his head several times and decided not to pull.

They will make a pill for anything I tell you.  ANYTHING.

Many of the pharmaceutical companies will make, with inflation figured in, a trillion dollars in revenue in the next 15-20 years.  

If you had to spend a trillion dollars, you would have to spend a million dollars a days for about 26,000 years.

My co-worker has to inject herself with a needle everyday...not sure if thats type 1 or 2 diabetes, but i wouldnt be able to inject myself everday if i had to.  Im thankful for my good health.
