Why does God need you to believe in Him or Her in order for you to be saved?  Seems awfully selfish.

And Aerial - evolution is not random by any means, it is quite the opposite, it is evolution by natural selection. I'd like to think I don't have to explain it. As for your request, I'm still not exactly sure why you're looking for, hopefully mrgetrich's response satisfies it.

by the way, Helernus is our God.  look him up.  one of the most utilitarian of all of the gods.  if anyone can disprove her existence and/or that she created human life, i'm coming over to full-on christianity and i'm bringing vanzack, KK, system, caca, hutch and getrich with me, kicking and screaming.

I have asked this question many times...still no answer So, i'll tell you why, this is an important concept for man and man created this whole god idea....

Well of course it can be debated. Not everyone believes in the theory of evolution and so it can be debated just as much as the debate on whether God exist or doesn't exist can be debated by opposing sides...the believers & non-belivers.

For there are believers in the theory of evolution and there are also non-believers in the theory of evolution and once again let me inform you that a theory is not a fact!

mrgetrich is trying to debate me on this subject of evolution, if you go to pg. 54 post #1333 he says,

The definition of debatable is defined as: that can be questioned or disputed; questionable.

Let me show you some simple illustrations below to illustrate what is debatable and not debatable, to make you realize your mistake.

1. The sun is hot...not debatable, because it is a fact.

2. Everyone will die someday...not debatable, because it is a fact.

3. God exists...debatable, because not everyone believes in His existence.

4. We evolve from ape-like animal creatures...debatable, because not everyone believes we evolved from ape-like animal creatures.

So now kitty, would you acknowledge to me that you were wrong in stating, "Evolution cannot be debated."

I went to church this weekend (my gal is Catholic.....we've discussed it many times...we live with our differences).

The Priest said, "it is right to give him praise."  I don't understand.  He has the ability to give ever lasting life, but he can't prevent 6 million person from being slaughtered? 

Someone says, "free will" and another says, "God has a plan for all of us."  Which is it?

Good morning everybody!...the believers, non-believers & irresoluters, how is everyone today on this fine, beautiful Tues mornin'?...I'm fine myself thankyou!

Let me start today with the Lord's prayer. For you non-believers & irresoluters, I don't know what you do, you have no instruction manual, no guide for your lives but we believers have a instruction manual and it's called the Holy Bible and the author is God. But feel free to say the prayer below. Ok let's bow our heads and say the Lord's prayer:

Our Father which art in heaven, Hallowed be thy name. Thy kingdom come, Thy will be done in earth, as it is in heaven. Give us this day our daily bread. And forgive us our debts, as we forgive our debtors. And lead us not into temptation, but deliver us from evil: For thine is the kingdom, and the power, and the glory, forever, Amen.----Matthew 6:9:13

Is there PURPOSE for human life? Does life, after all, have real meaning? Here is the awesome truth!

Part 14 of 23. Man Should Produce Knowledge

God intended for man to produce additional knowledge. He gave us the basis -- the foundation -- the premise -- the concept. But He also provided us with eyes with which to observe. With hands and feet to explore and measure. With means to produce laboratories, test-tubes, means of experimentation. He gave us awesome minds with which to think.

If a plane from Singapore destined for Manila starts off in the wrong direction, it might land in India instead of the right destination. It is just as important to start off in the right direction, from the true premise, with the right approach, in this matter of knowledge production.

God intended man to use observation, experimentation, and human reason. He supplied us with the basis -- the foundation -- the start in the right direction, with the right concept. But our first parents rejected the most vital dimension i all knowledge. And mankind has continued to reject the very foundation of all knowledge. Knowledge production has been operating without a foundation - based on false premises and erroneous hypotheses.

That is why human knowledge production has failed to solve humanity's problems, and to cure the world's ills. Manufacturers of mechanical or electrical appliances send along an instruction manual with their product. The Bible is our Maker's instruction manual which he has sent along with the product of his making---humanity.

Six thousand years of human misery, unhappiness and evils ought to provide sufficient proof for those willing to see, that humanity, starting with our first parents, rejected the most vital dimension.

Even though he's already posted many parts of the bible where the author was unknown.

It's funny actually. The bible is one of the only books in the history of written literature where people assign it an author with absolutely no evidence whatsoever.

For example: I KNOW Harry Potter was written by J.K. Rowling. I KNOW The Lord of the Rings was written by JRR Tolken. But you THINK the bible was written by god. See the difference.

The Book of Ecclesiastes

The author was Solomon, the date written is uncertain but perhaps around 935 B.C., late in Solomon's reign.

There are few experiences in life that are more universal than disappointment. It seems as if everyone has experienced a broken promise, an unfulfilled expectation, or a shattered dream. The "Teacher" in the book of Ecclesiastes recorded his own experiences with disappointment as he tried to find peace apart from God. In the book, the Teacher uses a series of examples---wealth, wisdom, popularity, pleasure---and shows how each of them ultimately ends in disappointment if it becomes the sole reason for one's existence. After pondering this dilemma for several chapters, the author finally comes to this conclusion. "Fear God and obey his commands, for this is everyone's duty" (12:13). It appears that the Teacher abandoned any hope in worldly pursuits and decided that glorifying God provides the only lasting meaning in life.

I believe Solomon, as you speak of in your most recent post, seems to be conflating "reason" and "purpose." So I believe I am correct if I replace the word "reason" with the word "purpose" for the purposes of addressing this post.

The sole purpose of my existence is to enjoy life. I can't see how anyone of any faith could dispute that as a legitimate purpose. I live for myself. No that does not mean I don't give a shit about anyone else and will live a totally selfish life. It simply means I'm not living for god, like (I think) you are saying you do.

Even if god does exist, why would I live for him? I'm living for me. If god does exist, he has no impact on my life right now (as Rostos has said many times previous, we have free will, god isn't our personal genie, and he clearly doesn't interfere in the lives of humans (see: Japan, Japan...and Japan lol)). So putting aside the debate over god's existence for a moment, I can't think of any legitimate reason why I should live for god regardless of whether he exists.

Br. kitty have you forgotten already? The author of the Holy Bible is God. He inspired these writers and so if a particular book's writer is unknown, well at least we still know that God wrote it.

Correction:  but we believers have a instruction manual and it's called the Holy Bible and the authors are many men.

Vanzack - you win. I already PROVED that the author of the bible is not CERTAIN the way the authors of Harry Potter and The Lord of the Rings are CERTAIN. Yet this subject is still debated. No more logic, it's useless.
