Pretty amazing process going on now in Texas legislature....

Basically here is the deal:

*  Texas Republicans are trying to pass a very restrictive abortion bill.

*  Democratic senator Wendy Davis is filibustering it.

Here is the interesting part....

*  She has to talk about the subject of the bill for 13 hours (up until midnight central time)

*  No bathroom breaks

*  Cant lean on desk or put hands on podium

*  Cant eat or drink anything

*  If she gets 3 warnings, she is out

This is f u c k I n g amazing to watch.  This is politics in the USA.  They might as well arm wrestle to decide it.

BTW - the men asking the questions are often on her side and helping her waste time.

Asking her to repeat what she said:

"Do you want me to give you a printed copy of what she said"?

"No, it is so much better when she speaks it.  Slowly."

An assistant helped her put on a back brace during a break.

All the fat white men are deciding whether this is a violation or not.

Could be strike 2!

15 minutes on the rules of sitting vs standing, and applying a back brace.

I realize I am talking to myself here - ironically, some might say - filibustering here on covers - but this is just ridiculous.

I kid you not.

Vote coming up if having assistance on putting on a back brace violates texas legislature rules.

I sh it you not.

They are arguing passionately whether or not a back brace is worthy of a violation.

At stake:  An abortion bill, and sentencing guidelines for juviniles. 

Back brace ruled as strike 2.

One more, and she is out.

There is some kind of conference going on at the podium - but she has 2 strikes and keeps fouling off pitches...

3 strikes.

But now they are filibustering the filibuster.

1:40 to go.

Third strike was "germain-ness"

Seems like they didn't think she was talking on topic enough - and the president (republican in favor of the bill) unilaterally decided that her filibuster was over.

So they kicked him out of the presidency - and now the vice president is presiding!  And they are filibustering the filibuster.

50 minutes to go.

They are stalling worse than an NFL coach trying to run the ball with a lead and 5 minutes left in the game.
