Rev. Al Sharpton plans Oscars protest

LOS ANGELES (AP) — The Rev. Al Sharpton has announced plans to stage a rally on Sunday prior to the Oscars to protest a lack of diversity in Hollywood.

The rally, announced Thursday, also is intended to support a push for a nationwide TV tune-out of the Academy Awards ceremony.

Critics say the awards show, with its second consecutive year of all-white acting nominees, has come to embody a diversity crisis in the entertainment industry,

Jada Pinkett Smith, Will Smith and Spike Lee previously announced their intention to not support the show.

Sharpton's demonstration will be held just a few blocks from the Dolby Theatre, where the Oscars are staged. Other rallies are planned in New York, Virginia, Ohio, Georgia and Michigan.

I watch a lot of movies. Which non white actors were great this year? Seriously who do they think should be nominated and who shouldn't. I am assuming Will Smith is one? He didn't even do a believable accent.

I'm boycotting the Oscars like I do every year.

What a bunch of cry babies.  I can't believe these people think race has something to to with awards.   Now we are going to have affirmative action on movie awards.   How pathetic.

Al Sharpton never defends non blacks such as whites, asians, hispanics and middle eastern decent.

so, are we going to have to implement  a "rooney rule" for black actors now, I love diversity but I can name the top african american actors on one hand and there's no-one i see the likes of denzel washington passing the torch to, thats not that fault of the white community

Personally I would love to see the industry most responsible for political correctness bound and gagged by the same shite they pushed on the rest of the world.  Like anyone should care who the best liars of the year are anyway

I don't know who's more fucked up in the head: Al Sharpton, Spike Lee, or Chris Rock, all 'Orioles' living off the White mans money, by exploiting black African-Americans...in other words; three bonified (in-the-closet) Uncle Toms, to say the least..remember, every word Chris Rock said on stage in behalf of the Academy Awards, was written by white, and black people who happened to pay for his perfomance, and he was under contract to do, and say exactly as he was told, by the AA administration....take it for what it is...a scripted ceremony.
