as a disclaimer, while i am a huge, huge proponent of legalizing marijuana for a lot of reasons, i've probably smoked twice in the last 8 years. i killed it in school and hit it pretty hard for the 10 years following that but not so much anymore. so, my tolerance isn't quite what it used to be.

No, but be sure to come back to the forum and share your experience from an out-of-state perspective.
As for your tolerance, I'm the same way. Last time for me was a bachelor party about a year ago and before that was several years. So heed this advice, only a couple of hits will suffice. Otherwise, you may get anxious and paranoid. Have fun!

thanks slobbasaurus, but i'll have my kids with me so i'll probably need to be a little more discreet and go with some edibles. i'm not familiar with those at all.

I tried those once and it only took a little bit. It's a different kind of feeling. If it's been some time like me, you'll feel good and tired and want to nap. I suggest taking them during the evening, hahaha

that's what i'm being told. i was ready to go all in with a half a dozen marijuana doughnuts or something, but apparently i need to start with a few bites and see what happens.
i'm sure this will be a late evening thing as i'll be running around with the wife and kids during the day.

I dunno how people can tolerate the heavy THC levels in the laboratory pot these days. I smoked a little a year back and I couldn't figure out how to turn on my own television set.

actually we're going to washington. i heard it's not quite as prevalent as colorado but i'm suer i'll figure it out.
search, i'm not sure what i can handle anymore. i'm going to go lightly.
There are 5 pot shops within 20 minutes of me & I'm 40 miles north of Seattle. I rarely smoke anymore but it's still cool to walk into a shop & buy whatever you want.

The store should tell u about dosing edibles and what to expect. I wouldn't advise driving in a town you aren't familiar with under the influence of edibles.
Bho/dabs are with trying if you have not. Some places offer "dabs" and serve it up to you as the process can be dangerous to try to do on your own with no experience.
Marijuana legalization is not a top priority issues but it is always interesting how certain groups of people are for more rights and freedoms for Americans while other groups of people are hellbent on limiting and stripping Americans of their rights and freedoms

If you've smoked pot before, nothing new there.
The two things to focus on are edibles and bho.

I don't know why there's so much drama in Colorado, but in Washington it's pretty much accepted......the shops are no big deal. The ones I've been in are all pretty much set up like a jewelry shop. Everything is in display cases & behind the counter. You'll likely be carded no matter how old you look. All the proprietors I've dealt with have been very nice & helpful. If you know what you want just ask for it. If not, just give them an idea: You like a buzzy high? Get Sativa. Mellow? Indica., etc. You want edibles or butter or jam, just ask about them. They're not gonna snicker if you tell them you're a light-weight & would prefer something tasty but not too potent. Most of the weed is labeled with the potency value........& they have stuff packaged in a variety of ways other than just buying it loose. For instance, they'll have a sealed pack with a gram of weed & 2-3 joints in it called a "party pack" for like $25. My buddy bought a joint for $10 that had a mix of weed, hash, kief, etc. that was labeled as 50% potent........pretty tasty but way too potent for me. The prices are actually pretty reasonable compared to what street prices are.

fellas (since marijuana is accepted now, covers needs a smoking icon). i knew there'd be some aficionados in here.
i think i'm just going to go in and ask for advice.
i'm probably going the edible route since my kids will be around and i don't need them seeing me smoke anything. plus, if i am going to bring some back on the plane, probably best to buy some cannabis candy and stash it in the kids' suitcase and let them take the fall if we get busted. or the wife. that's how you do it, right?
we aren't driving much but the wife can handle the driving duties if necessary, although me driving f*cked up is still probably safer than her driving sober.
anyway, we leave on monday. i'll report back.

I agree. Most of the fun is smoking and coughing up a big fat bong hit. No fun eating it.
I'm from Seattle and go back an forth a lot. I'm going to pick some up too and bring it back. Does TSA have any right to stop you for a bag of weed in a carry on? They open up my sub sammiches all the time after the x ray belt.

I wasn't aware that they did that. I took an eighth down to Tampa by putting it on my sandwich about 10 years ago. I don't think they let you bring food on the plane now. It's been a while since I flew.

What is wrong with you ?
Your children's luggage ? Really ?
Few would quarrel with stashing the stuff in your wife's luggage. There is no possible bad outcome there. However, I think you are a sick human being to consider subjecting your children to the potential humiliation of being caught with contraband in their suitcases. Instead, invest in High-Grade prophylactics ( you don't want to endanger their health ) and tell the kiddies it is a science project designed to test how well their digestive systems can handle balloon filled brownies. Whichever kid swallows the most balloons gets to eat chocolate ( ex-lax ) ice cream for dinner for a week.
A win-win situation for all involved ( particularly if you hit the trifecta with the wife ).
Good luck.

If you have a choice. There I am sure you will. Indica Lollypops the buzz is chill . a few licks should do the trick. Estivia which gives amazing energy the side effects are awful you want more more get paranoid and anxious. Of smokable indica White dove and blueberry here in Maine we have no shops except medical marijuana clinics but Portland has legality to possession but city cops state they enforce Maine law. Which gives a civil penalty of 350 for first offense and 500 for second offenses of possession. And because you are being charged with out any criminal charge they don't need to have an attorney defend you. It is a large revenue generation for the state government Most who get caught just mail in the money and check admit. This year it is a ballot question but its not who votes but who counts always party officials who meet at the lodge and already know what the ballots results are before election day. How 85% registered voters tien out and 60% voted early.
Anyway good luck club. Indica Lollypops.
