This is funny shite. The knee jerk reaction by the entire country in the last week over taking down statues is one of the funniest things I have ever seen.

I really don't care what side of the isle you are on.....taking down old statues is useless in regards to improving race relations. It really does nothing.

Personally, I agree with Bill Hicks that our country is at about an 8th grade emotional level.

I will float a theory before I head out fishing for the day....I think that there are some parties involved that want the statues for their own and are looking to purchase them directly from the counties/municipalities.

What a lawn ornament....put Robert E Lee in your backyard, $5 million!

Never Make A Winner A Loser. Never.

I agree.  People are in an uproar over this sh!t but I guess I don't understand the whole "Southern Pride" thing being from North Jersey.

I never really understood the Confederate Flag pride when they lost the War.

    What up wit dat?  Hahaha

I may be ignorant about the subject but I associate it with Whiskey Tango racism.  When I moved to Tampa in 9th grade, it was the first time I received racial hate from White guys.  I never thought that Italians/Spaniards with olive skin were subject to racism by Whiskey Tango hicks.  It's also a big no-no down there if you're Roman Catholic.  To those inbred Southern Hicks, people like me are considered a "Mongrels."  No joke

So yes, I can honestly say that I was a "victim" of racism by both Whites and Blacks.

I hate the South and will only go down there if I have to.  It's a completely different world down there.  The pace of life down there is so damn slow that I have no idea how I withstood it for 4 years.  Right after high school it was back up North for me.

My fellow Yankees, don't go down there; it's phucking Hell!

    First it is statues...Then what?

Books of course would most likely be next...Looking forward to CNN nonstop coverage of huge bonfires fed by books the radicals do not like.

Certain old movies would definitely be on their list..Too many movies from the 30's to the 60's are considered racist by many of the numnuts.

Then Fox news would absolutely have to be shut down.

Talk radio is too dangerous for them as well..Limbaugh, Hannity, Savage, Levin would all have to go.

Dangerous waters ahead...Give an inch and they will take a mile..

The good people of this country must stand up for the freedoms we cherish...The D- RATS and their media allies will never stop until they are back in control of your lives 100%...   ..Ignore them and their propaganda as it is all bull-all the time.

I get your point. It is certainly valid.

But it doesn't really matter and will fall on deaf ears. When a specific faction of people attempts to take control of a nation or region, the first thing to go is the history of said nation or region. Every dictator/fascist/radical group alters history to their convenience.

That is why the statue removal hysteria in the name of "harmony" is so funny.....

So, what is going to happen?

1)More NFL players are going to sit for the national anthem. It will hurt the league's bottom line even more.

    2) More disenfranchised, emotional whites will react.

    3) The media will continue to fuel the fire.

Result: More racial chaos, and an elimination of Thursday night football.

I get your point. It is certainly valid.

That is why the statue removal hysteria in the name of "harmony" is so funny.....

Other side of the "isle", vern? I don't know if that was intentional or not but I like it! On to the issue.
Even considering all of our flaws, I believe this is the greatest nation in the world. And I believe our people are more or less inherently good. Despite of the actions of groups in places like Charlottesville, despite of what "racist white people" thread Scal may start, or what "racist black people" thread someone may counter with, the majority of our people care about our fellow Americans regardless of race. What this leads me to is this. Too many in this country, as it pertains to Black people, are taking this stance of, "We feel your pain... We're sorry... Let's erase these injustices..." yet they're doing so with symbolic and meaningless gestures that have no bearing on black people, or any other marginalized segment of society. It's the equivalent of when your mother hears your childhood buddy has a rough home life and she gets all, "Don't make lil Johnny feel uncomfortable. Don't say anything to remind him of his shitty home life." Meanwhile little Johnny is like, "Stop walking on eggshells around me. Just treat me like a person."
If a segment of the black community takes some kind of moral victory from all of this, if it helps a segment of white America deal with their white guilt, hey, more power to them. My stance as an African American is much the same as little Johnny's: Stop walking on eggshells around me. Just treat me like a person. Fairly and without prejudice.

And to Slobs point about "southern pride", many of the people taking part in demonstrations like Charlottesville are not from the south and couldn't care less about confederate history. To that point, they're not from Nazi Germany either. Most of them couldn't even spell "Mein Kampf" let alone give you a synopsis. These demonstrations are about hate. They have nothing to do with "preserving southern history".

I hear that Dub, but how does that help us. It's a nice gesture but i'm more concerned with destroying the lingering effects of slavery that still exist to this day than destroying statues. Frankly, if they want to take down an old symbol of the confederacy, how about starting with Jefferson Beauregard Sessions III? How about Addison Mitchell McConnell?

For the record, you can't burn a statue. You can't erase history either.

The big question is why I never heard of taking down every statue in the country during the last 8 years?

    Sorry double.....this is a media-driven frenzy to initiate a political coup....Nothing more.

So, like I said, take them all down.....it really doesn't matter. This is a bad situation becoming worse. Sucks.

I don't know Vern.  To guys like us, it really doesn't, but these "Heritage NOT Prejudice" Southerners, they take this really personally.

Not sure if you ever met the type, but they really take this sh!t personally.  It's not a joke to them.

"What would my Daddy or GrandDaddy think of this?"  Yes, grown men referring to their fathers as "My Daddy."  (I think Carlin had a bit on this).

I should have prefaced a bit. The "doesn't  matter"  statement is referring to the fact that the endgame for the country will be the same. Take em down, leave em up, whatever. The destructive part is the deepening divide between U.S. citizens.

The statue issue is an issue only because the media and powerful elites (don't ask me who, my best guess is Soros and the like) want it to be.

Frayed race relations in America are worth a lot to our enemies abroad and antagonists at home.

This debate over statues does nothing to help America, and it dang sure doesn't heal the wounds of slavery.

For 2000 years slavery has always been about the wealthy and powerful exploiting the underprivileged. It has little to do with race and all to do with convenience. It has existed on every continent and destroyed people of all ethnicities. No doubt about it, it is an evil born of entitlement.

This "race war" thing may be the greatest false flag of all time. Watching the media perpetrate this crime with such vigor is, like I said earlier, hilarious.

The elite media is REALLY pushing for a race war....

The lo- info crowd eats it up.

Trump is a group...Trump is a NAZI....Trump is a RACIST...Trump voters are of the same mindset.

The lo-info viewer believes this dung excrement spewed daily and is likely getting more riled up by the day..

The statue issue is simply just another  d-rat and media ploy to "stir" up the black and brown races against the decent hard working white people that pay the bills.

When the you know what hits the fan and the rioting, mayhem, and killings begins..... I hope the justice department goes after the kingpin Soros and his media darlings for inciting  riots and put the MF'ers where they belong.....in prison.

Might be the last time I post on Covers...

THE COVERS software changed my wording into "group"

I orig typed in kay kay kay...You know, the hate "group"

But I just used the letter K

What do the owners of covers think of their members?

Not much in my opinion....They must think we are in kindergarten to protect our delicate selves....

Covers.com are just as bad as the "thought police" we are fighting against as a nation.

The statue of former Philadelphia Mayor Frank L. Rizzo was vandalized Thursday night, according to a report from Philly.com.

Someone spray-painted the words "Black Power" on the statue with white paint, according to the report.

Statue of a white man is black? Where were the protests when,  hiring of black officers declined sharply during Rizzo's tenure as police commissioner.........

Let's try and look at this with just a little common sense, shall we?

Now, your average Nazi, more like "today's Nazi", pretty much hates people of color, Or people that just have to dress a certain way because of their religion. You may want to remove your turban should you decide to attend your next protest.........

"But, Hawk, I have the right to wear whatever I want" and you do. However, if you walk into a Lions Den, you have to expect a roar.

In the old days, being Jewish was a crime. Just 'cause.

Today, being Jewish doesn't stick out (unless you want to grow a ZZ Top beard because of your beliefs), so, minorities have been targeted. Why? I don't know. If they are inferior, what are they worried about? They are not "taking" your job, you wouldn't do that job for the money  they are making.

But, what they do have is rights. The right to own guns. Freedom of speech, and the right to assemble.............

I think this country has made some strides the last few hundreds of years. Let's review:

    • Got rid of slavery
    • Gave women the right to vote (guys, how did we mess that one up?) Oh, and others the right to vote
    • Welcome to the front of the bus
    • Have a drink of water
    • Black man elected President
    • Woman running for President

Bigotry just doesn't pay. I've heard some (old idiot bigots) not bet on basketball because.............well................you can guess........

I always say "It's not black or white, it's GREEN, I'm interested in"

Just ask the good folks at Denny's what happens when certain people get certain service. You turn into Denny's Diner.

Anyway, I think we've learned a little something on this rocky road. And taking down a statue doesn't do anything. If anything, it gives the Nazis another chance to point fingers, and go "Look! See what they're doing!"

These United States has gone from a Civil War to a World War just because of bigotry.

People are not born bigots. IT IS LEARNED.

................and the teachers need to be dealt with.

    Never Again...........................look that phrase up.

    Peace.

    Out.

    Peace.

    Out.

    Well said, Hawk.

"It's not black or white, it's green!" That is the real truth, and it has been that way for 2000+ years.

You are comparing apples to oranges.

    False equivalence

The internment was ordered shortly after Imperial's Japan attack on Pearl Harbor.
The internment was not done to exploit Japanese-Americans. It was a precautionary measure.

The attack on Pearl Harbor was a surprise military strike by the Imperial Japanese Navy Air Service against the United States naval base at Pearl Harbor, Hawaii Territory, on the morning of December 7, 1941.

USA was at war with Japan. Atomic bombings of Hiroshima and Nagasaki ended the war.

After the defeat of Japan in World War II, the United States led the Allies in the occupation and rehabilitation of the Japanese state. Between 1945 and 1952, the U.S. occupying forces, led by General Douglas A. MacArthur, enacted widespread military, political, economic, and social reforms.

the blacks were promised 40 acres and a mule. They got Jim crow

Don't even compare the internment of Japanese-Americans to slavery, which is the sin of the United States.

Racism in the US against blacks is deeply rooted in slavery.
