I will be very shocked if this turns out well.  I've sailed off the keys before and it's nothing to screw around with.  You don't respect the sea and it will bite you in the ass (I'm not saying they didn't, but this thing stinks bad).  Hope I'm wrong.

And a 21 foot boat is NOTHING down there when the seas come up a bit.

little piece from the article...
 
"Rick Davis, a meteorologist with the National Weather Service in Tampa, said seas were about 2 to 4 feet Saturday morning and increased to 3 to 5 feet in the afternoon. Late Saturday night, a small craft advisory was issued, when winds were around 20 knots and seas were up to 7 feet or more. There were no thunderstorms in the area."
 
I think your right.. this may not turn out that good..but hope not..

I think these men are not used to the waters and they couldn't swim or know what to do under distress.

They were not in the Keys,they were 250 miles north in the Gulf of Mexico.But even in a 21' boat it would be extremely unusual that they would fall victim to occasional 14 foot swells without making a distress call on their radio.

If they had life jackets, they would still have to deal with sharks and hypothermia.

 It's sure starting to look that way.

Their boat was made by Everglades they manufacture injected foam boats that are encased in fibreglass that are virtually unsinkable.However if it were to capsize it would be difficult to hold onto in choppy water.

 At least these guys are highly conditioned athletes that could possibly survive 48 hours if they were wearing life vests.I don't believe that hypothermia would be a concern in the Gulf of Mexico and a shark attack could happen but I think that would be very unusual.

The fact that there was no distress call is very troublesome.

They didn't even say if this was the boat in question.
 
Rumor has it that at least 2 of them were experienced boaters....that they had lifejackets and flares.  But that guarantees nothing if you capsize and bonk your melon when you don't have a lifejacket on. 
 
I hope I'm wrong, but I still think this has disaster written all over it.  Glad they at least found one person clinging to the boat, though.  Better then just an empty boat I guess.
