Untouchable baseball record?

There are lots of great feats in MLB history, but here is one I think will never be beat or even come close to. Pete Rose... starting an all-star game... AT EIGHT DIFFERENT POSITIONS.

You're right, starting the all star game at 8 different positions would be quite the record, however, Rose only strated at 5 different positions. 1B, 2B, 3B, LF, RF. A feat that is still amazing.

56 Game hitting streak and Ripken's games played record will never be touched let alone sniffed

No one will ever get close to Nolan Ryan's strikeout record.

How the record for consecutive no-hitters? Johnny Vander Meer went back-to-back no-hitters in 1938.

No chance in hell for anyone to pitch 3 straight no-hitters to break that record!

Most any baseball can do that really. It's all up to the coach and player if they want to pull something like that off. I say DiMaggio's 56 and Ripken's record, just because who would even want to strive to beat that?

I agree with most & will add one............modern era record............13 shutouts in one season (Bob Gibson, 1968).

 Hell, it would be miraculous to see someone have 13 CG's in one season much less sho's

ditto - no way this one gets broken. i don't think anyone will ever even tie it.

Probably not.....Not these days without PED's....

But Cal Ripkens never will, Nolan Ryan Strikeouts never will, Cy Young wins never will....there are so many because baseball has been around over a century.....

Which makes Baseball so great, but with technology comes change....

I would take any of the best players straight up from 20-60 years ago against the past 15 years of players any day of the week if there are no drugs involved....and I'm only 26.....I have mad love for the old school players!!!

How many Hudepohls that I've drank at Riverfront Stadium in Cincinnati would have never been broken had I not been exiled from my home state of Ohio.

2.  Hack Wilson 191 RBI's

3.  Barry* Bonds* 73* Home* Runs*

4.  Old Ross Hadburn 59 wins in a season by a pitcher (ok, I'll go with the "modern" record of 31 by Denny McLain)

5.  Nolan Ryan's 7 no-hitters

6.  Cal Ripken's Consecutive Games Played

7.  Bob Gibson's 1.12 ERA in 1969

Mark Buehrles Perfect game and getting into the 7th of the next game was pretty good

That's as close as anyone will get and still 1 1/3 games short of the record. For some perspective, that's equivalent to a 30 game hit streak, which over 40 hitters have accomplished.

The most hits in an MLB game is 9 by Johnny Burnett of the Cleveland Indians in an 18 inning game in 1932.

I actually believe that his career loss record might be tougher to break of 316 losses, because no one will ever be round long enough to break it in this day and age.

But the one sports record that will never be sniffed is Cy Young decisions, 827.

I actually will correct myself, it is Cy Young's complete games, 749.

Tom Glavine is the active leader at 56. Dude that is not even 8% of the record. Any unbreakable sports record list without half of them being Cy Young's isn't an accurate list imo.
