Watching NFL is the Most Annoying Sports-Related Content on TV Anymore

You guys all complain too much.   Is American Idol still on for you guys to watch instead?

Even though I loathe it, the bar experience may be the best option. At least you got 7 games going on early and another 5 later, so there at least is something. 

This is another looming problem for the NFL..... it used to be a weekly event August through January.  It is now 24/7 365.  NFL Network, ESPN, Combine, Free Agency, Draft, OTA's, Training Camp, Hard Knocks, Hall of Fame induction, Fantasy Drafts.  Years ago after the Super Bowl you'd get some mild interest in Free Agency, then the Draft would garner a few weeks of attention leading up to it.  Nowadays you have Mel Kiper making his mock draft for 2016 in 2014!  Full on coverage of guys running the 40 at the combine for 4 days on NFL Network.....  It's too much.  Once the games actually start (Regular Season) you're burned out!

I think all TVs have a mute button.  

They never have bothered me.

I agree 1000% with this post.

NFL broadcasts have become these plasticy, over-commercialized, and almost predictable presentations.  It starts with the pre-game shows.  I don't even bother. They are full of FLUFF that goes over the top in trying not to offend... and the BS "ball-busting" the guys do on each other - it's fake and annoying.

It's the Prudential pregame show? Or is it the Sprint NFL Today? All the crass commercialization is completely exasperating.  We get it - you want us to buy pick-up trucks, light beer, mobile devices and insurance. But for goddsake - do you have to beat us into submission??

I had a girl over last night to watch the game. First thing I did was mute the commercials. Her words " Wow so much better not listening to the same s--h--it over and over." She said she is going to start doing that also. Spread the word!!!!  lol

doesn't matter if you mute or don't watch the commercials--they're still there, and stretch the game out to intolerable lengths

I mute nfl always ever since Howard cosell cause I can count and nobody has to tell me 3rd and 3. I use to listen to john madden and would watch the game even if I had no action.Now I mute the game and put on a Dead tape that will last for about a half.

Heres the problem and the new reality: Of the top 15 shows during the fall probably at least 10 were nfl games.The NFL knows what butters it's bread and so do advertisers. The games have become the delivery system to the consumer and prime demographic and it's the perfect synergy between Sport and Media and the fookin' Corporate advertiser.NFL changes it's rules/focus so as not to offend the driveby fan or sponser.John Madden was coach of OaklandRaiders and he had 2 rules for players -Make Bail and get to the stadium by kickoff.

there are commercials for everything and its been like this in the nfl for the last 10 years.  IMO the most annoying thing about watching the nfl today is the amount of flags, that is literally making it unbearable.  Literally ridiculous the amount of flags thrown in the nfl this year and most of them are incorrect or extremely arbitrary.  It seems ncaa refs swallow the whistle and let them play more.  Enjoying cfb much more this year, the penalties in the nfl are ridiculous

What should we do when we're not happy with something?  Remain quiet?

It's a discussion.  I understand if you don't feel the same way.  But the complainers can sometimes change things for the better.

The NFL has got way better since I started watching

1)  TIVO
2)  Sunday Ticket
3)  Red Zone Channel
4)  Stream games anywhere
5)  Live updating box scores on the internet
6)  High Def TVs
7)  Thursday night and Sunday night games
8)  "Flex" scheduling of games so you don't have a bad national game
9)  Replay Review 
10) A million different camera angles


Yes, there are a lot of commercials, but there are a lot of commercials in every popular sport except soccer. TBH, commercials don't bother me because I am used to them - I will watch something else for 2 minutes or do something else and come back to the game.
