Weird Reaction to betting in Vegas

Last month I went to the Bellagio and bet $7000 on the Dodgers to win the NL West. I will post a picture as soon as it loses but not until as I am still holding out a small smidgen of hope. Also a separate $4000 bet on a play that won at +115. So it's gonna be a $2400 loss probably.

Now here is the thing. She had to call the manager for approval and he pretty much went Ape Shit like I was trying to bet 7 million. First, I didn't have an MLife card because I generally stay at Harrah's (Ceasers) , so he said that was suspicious. He wouldn't take the bet until I went to cashier cage and got a card. When I got back, he made me fill out paperwork including my SS number which he verified before accepting the bet. He told me if I bet anymore to go over 10 k he would have to report me for "stacking". 

Now honestly, I'm a bit quick tempered so now I'm thinking I'm being treated differently. Like do I not look good enough to have $11 k so he thinks I just robbed a bank or something ?? Now I'm in my feelings and I told him dude this is Vegas and you're tripping on a shitty ass $7 k bet. That ain't shit in Vegas so why you tripping on me ? He told me they pretty much never get bets beyond a couple hundred dollars and this $7 k is the biggest in a long long long time. Then I felt like an ass because I got shitty with him. Just assumed they got big bets all the time. I always read on forums about people placing 5 and 6 figure bets. As it turns out, common folks walking in and betting big money really never happens. Not even in Vegas. 

Then I went back to bet a hundred on something and got stuck behind 2 different people trying to put in some 10 team $5 parlay. Just used the kiosk instead. Well I hope the Dodgers pull a miracle but it ain't gonna happen. 

I knew the Dodgers would end up with over 100 wins, just didn't think the Giants would as well.

Futures don't get nearly as big bets as single games.  It would be tough for him to get balanced action.  Not many people want to tie up 7K for longer than a week. If it were an NFL side, it would be easy to balance it or lay it off.

The form for the SSN is a USA government thing on cash transaction over 1K

I think I read something that the largest bet on NBA regular season wins at MGM was 22K, and that moved the line a whole win. I think it was on Utah over...they said that amount was almost unheard of...

but I battled back , my next action , I talked smack to the law

they didn’t appreciate it and said “ what the fucck do you think you’re doin’ player ? “

I said “ I’m just a nut and a lunatic , you know just on the cusp of bein disgruntled from another fucckin’ losin’ wager…. “

That day I took my business elsewhere and proceeded to donate 1,250 to another casino on the strip , the moral of the story is it’s normal dont be incorrigible’ll or they’ll bust you up plus a bloody lip …….

Banking Act of 1990 requires any exchange of 10k CASH to be reported to IRS with ss#. This is $ laundering and drug $ tracking and doesn't have anything to do with if you win the bet or not.Required at auto dealers etc. but not if you were to use a credit card or check,books don't make any $ on this and is just a pain in the assss.Some books take special chips to avoid the bother.

       I was turned down trying to bet $5,000 on a game and had to use two casinos so I'm not surprised.

 No not very often at all. Even $1000 is considered a huge play.

 Yeah I believe you. I thought he was gonna turn me down. I wish he would have as it lost. I have read so many people say they bet $5000 or more all the time, I didn't even expect her to call the book manager for approval. I thought she would just take the bet. Then the book manager acted shocked. When I asked him, this is Vegas don't you take bets this size all the time ?. He dead Ass said - pretty much never. 

My small opinion is, that a lot of these bozo sportsbook "managers" are barely above janitors...he probably pissed his pants thinking he was being scammed or the higher ups would come down on his lame ass if something went wrong

The person running The Bellagio Sportbook isn't a bookie but a beancounter. She(?????) say no more,is running a shop to take parlay cards from tourists. She didn't want to take your bet.

 And then another thing, which I can't even find on Google. I told him I might bet some more later and if I do, I hope there won't be more hassle. He told me if I was to bet another $3000 on the same play, that's a felony. A racketeering charge under RICO called stacking where if you are betting $10,000 + on a game but break it up into smaller bets, that's a felony and he would be required to report it to the government. So he was giving me warning not to bet $3000 on the Dodgers. I'm like ..how would the average bettor know that

 Yeah that sounds right. He was clearly concerned that I was trying to get over, in some way. How exactly, I'm not sure. 

I expected this bet to die today but it is still alive going into final day. When I lose tommorow, I blame my $7000 loss on the Rockies  They gave us a hell of a time but couldn't beat the Giants even 1 damn time. Including 1 game they went into the 9th with the lead and SF got 4 in the 9th.

To this day the largest bet I've seen was when a gentleman in front of me bet $3,000 on the Raiders a few years back at the Golden Nugget sports book in the Fremont St Experience. The ticket writer took and money and generated the ticket just like the guy bet $300.00 

Ahh.. The "regs" with the laundry list of $5, 10+ leg parlays.  +  and  from the people waiting in line (cuz the line will move) and the workers logging in the bets. Heaven forbid if the spread changes at that moment!

yeah I'm at Harrah's right after it opened back up. The guy had decided on about 6 plays but wanted 2 or 3 more for his $5 parlay and he was slowly deciding who else he wanted to add at the only window open. TF ?? Fortunately they now have kiosk $300 per play limit but I only play $50-$150 on single games generally so that works for me but what if someone wanted a $2000 bet and missed the good number for some $5 ten team parlay joker. And why is this bold. 

crazy. my local has a bigger local that accepted 5k for the red sox to win the world series back in 2018. the fact that a local is willing to write a ticket faster than a large corporation of a casino is wild. but these large public books don't want that kind of action. they welcome losers and ban winners. they all have the same business model. they don't even come up with their own lines. had you won, i wouldn't be surprised if you would never be allowed to be at any of their books again. if you're looking for that kind of action, just open a bookmaker account

You guys are still good . Try make a 1000 dollar bet in Canada.  You will sign papers until your hand hurts and that is before you win ( if ) .

 All of these companies now and yes I work for one of them are requiring ssn and id for any bet over 2k and any in play wager over 1k, for internal tracking purposes.  The lady you talked to at bellagio has no clue on the anti money laundering laws or ctr requirements just like most industries with the explosion of sportsbetting most staff is incapable of handling large amounts of cash and freak out at every bet over $1000.  That being said the correct term would be structuring not stacking where a guest structures his or her bets to avoid the federal ctr threshold of 10k wagered in a day.  Big misconception on that stuff as well it has nothing to do with your personal income tax or anything, it for the federal government to  make sure you are not moving any money for an illegal organization, how they confirm that I do not know.  Again having said all the above our out as an organization is common knowledge of said guest in other words you could go to different casinos and or windows on different shifts or  you could easily bet at a kiosk at several different places to throughout your day and have no issues on the front end, back end might be a little different.  Just my thoughts.  Have a great day.
