I don't have a college education. I live off waiting tables. I own everything I have including my car which will last me a couple more years. I live with my sister for the time being and she feeds me. I don't do drugs or party. I'm thinking about stashing 5k, putting the rest a fidelity account.
What about opening a yoga studio? It doesn't seem like there would be much startup. Find a couple teachers to hire. Find a cool space to rent and then advertise it. Be a little different from everyone else. Anybody have any input on that
Buy a house by a college/university, it's by far the best option. You will always be able to find people to rent, always, even if you are stuck giving a small discounted price. You'll be extremely pleased in 15 years when a house you put a $20,000 down payment on is now paying you back at least tenfold. I'm a 22 year old university student who will be doing this by the latest September 2014. If I can find a partner, then by September 2013.

I like that idea alot spartacus. So obviously I wont be able to buy a house outright with 100k. Your saying put a down payment of 20k on a house and rent it out.

Vegas or Arizona You can buy 2 fixeruper homes at 40K each fix them up with the rest of the money, rent them out at 1200 a month each
After property taxes, sewer tax, home owners insurance and saving 200 from each house per month for expenditures and maintenance You should be able to rake in 800 a month for each house.
Keep your Job, save up that money all of it, Have discipline, After four years, You can buy another one in cash as well, then 3 years later another, in 18 or 20 years you could parlay this into a huge retirement, Maybe own up to 10 to 12 homes with around eight to ten thosand dollars coming in per month.

$100,000 is far from life changing. Its a decent chunk of change that is very easy to blow faster than you think.
Act like you don't even have it, life like you were living and allow some time for things to work themselves out.
At this point you shouldn't even be thinking about it too much. Any idea you can come up with this early is one that will go down in flames and so will your money.

If you are thinking about opening a restaurant, never start off opening one up of your own. Start off with a chain (subway, pizza, smoothie, ice cream) franchise. You could probably get in for less than the 100k. As long as your don't place it in the most dispicable place, there is no way you can fail. I can't remember the last time a subway, tropical smoothie, cold stone, papa johns, etc, closed down. They will train you and it would be very hard to fail. Once you are successful with that, then you take the chances (vegan restaurant, yoga studio).
Real estate is always a good investement. I don't trust the stock market or investment firms, but then again I'm not very educated on that. I just have a hard time trusting liars and thieves with my money.
It's good that you don't party or do drugs. You probably wouldn't of even started this thread if you did.

Take wise risks that you are comfortable with. If you are successful, you can become rich. Advantage of youth is that if you lose everything, you still have the rest of your life to recover financially.
