I would really appreciate any info anyone has. I bought an engagement ring from Robins Brothers about a year ago, and now my fiance and I have called off the wedding. Robins brothers do not buy back rings, so i was wondering if anyone had any info on where i can take it to sell it. i know that id be lucking to even get half of what its really worth anywhere, but i need to try and sell it.

If you sell it on-line, Make sure that the check that they sent you is Legit.... I heard a story on TV awhile back about a lady selling her Wedding Ring on Ebay... The guy that bought the Ring sent her a Bogus check and on top of that, UPS delivered the Ring to a Grocery Store Parking Lot.... The UPS never asked the Guy for his ID or anything... Good Luck on selling your Ring...

go to jewelry stores and let them look at the stone and the ring and shop around and usually they will all offer the same amount because they go by a certain system

Been there, done that once. I just took it to a local shop and ate my loss on it, roughly 33% loss on value. But hell, small price to pay for a potentially disasterous relationship.

OK robins dont buy back rings but maybe they will give you a trade and go buy yourself a watch --They may give 85% back on what you paid and add a few hundred more for a nice watch or other item they sell

def get it appraised first - I personally would try ebay / craigslist to sell it - will prob get you your best deal that way. A pawn shop will prob only give you 25 -30% of what its true worth is

Pawnbrokers unite! Anyone ever think when you buy a diamond in a jewelry store that you are getting royally shafted when you walk in the door. The mark-ups on smaller diamonds are astronomical. It is the best ( legal ) racket on the planet. And who do you think buys diamonds from pawnshops? Your friendly, suburbanite jeweler, who puts it in a new setting.....
Something is only worth what somebody else will pay for it. Not trying to be a smart-ass, but if you paid $1500 for a medium quality 1/3 carat diamond, then that's what it was worth to you at the time. As soon as you leave the store - good luck.
I'd try and sell it locally, like through a Bargain Finder type newspaper. Ebay is almost a perfect market with massive amounts of sellers and buyers. You'll be very lucky to get a third of what you likely paid in a fancy store.
