Nothing in particular just something about both of them that don't do it for me...but I will say that Jack is better than Jim Beam IMO. It's funny that you mention my "youth", I am only 23 and definitely an amateur in the whiskey field...but this thread is giving me the craving to run to the store and pick up a small bottle of scotch and have a glass of scotch and milk tonight as a nightcap. But sadly I have to work at 6am tomorrow

i know about the early work thing, i have to get up at 530. i will stop by 9 pm for sure. i feel old now ad. i think bourbons are so much more drinkasble than scotch. just my  opinion. works out well for me as a great bourbon costs much less than a great scotch

Mount Gay is a damn good sipping rum. In order from low end to high end, I choose famous grouse, maker's mark, glenlivet, macallan 15, oban, macallan

macallan 21 is good , 30 is very good , but i only drink it when a company is buying... very expensive indeed glen farklas very good 25 y.o. scotch

Steady, ever have Macallan 30? I've had it a handful of times. So smooth you'd think it was wine. Not bottles, mind you, just a shot.

For an affordable single malt, you cannot beat Bowmore. Especially the ones they age in French wine casks. Truly a great flavored Scotch.

Not had the 30, but I have had highland park 35(?), which was recently bought by macallan. The country club I work for does "tastings" for it's valued employees in order for them to better sell the goods. Those tastings consist of pounding whatever type of booze while retaining the bare essential info. Those days are tough to show up for ;)

bowmore 17 yo is a good scotch Hawk. lagavulin is a very smokey peaty scotch that i enjoy sometimes.

kurshka, you are so correct , to each his own. i dont care much for the canadian blended whiskeys, but i do drink crown when nothing else is readily available

i do a shot of jameson from time to time, i also have powers irish whisky ,its not bad

i drankd a little elijah craig 18 yo bourbon tonight guys, very nice , and not too expensive for its age

Lagavulin is great Scotch.

Actually, Makers is before 6:00 (we're first off the tee) breakfast of champions'!

there is no compairson between Jack and Jim. Jack hands down.Never aquired a taste for scotch, a little on the perfume side for me.each to his own DRINK UP

Never say this around an irishman.  It's one or the other and there is a shit load of violence between the two.  either your a catholic (Jameson) or a protestant (Bushmills).  can't have both.

Somebody else mentioned it, but Lagavulin 16 year is unbelievable if you like a scotch with a peaty, smoky nose and flavor.  Have any of you tried Stranahan's Colorado Whisky? Packs a punch, but a great spirit to drink neat.
