Who Wins between Celtics Greats and Lakers Greats?

Who Wins between Celtic Greats and Lakers Greats?

Say it was possible (like in games) to pick between any current or former player to have on your team.  Would you say the Lakers current and former player roster would beat the Celtics current and former player roster? 
15man roster and you play a regular game. Who are you picking?

I easy would take the Lakers roster with the likes of Magic, Kareem, Baylor, Shaq, Kobe, West..etc  over Bird, Walton, KG, Pierce

Thoughts?

Walton? LOL, I would think maybe a guy named Bill Russell- the guy with more rings than fingers- might crack that all time Celts lineup over Mr. Walton, haha. I think ESPN did a thing on this today.

Im not really a Celtics fan so I am not all that deep in their history. However, when you watch the news and interviews Walton's name is brought up a lot now with his connection to the Celtics vs his son on Lakers.  I do agree, Russell's name should be added top 5 for them

bench ~ Worthy - Shaq - Cooper - Goodrich - By.Scott

CELTICS ~ Pierce - Havlicek - Russell - Bird - McHale

bench ~ Cousy - Parrish - Archibald - JoJo - Sam Jones

I'll take L.A.

You guys are nuts, Celtics hands down.

Any team with Russell, Bird, Havlicek and Cousy would beat anyone anytime (except Jordan).

You forgot one guy for the Lakers, I think his name was Wilt something.

oh my bad misread post...I still got lakers in 7 tho!!!!!!  I think magic and jerry west would be to much for celts in the end. plus D and rebounding of wilt, shaq, and vlade divac (haha)

No I didn't forget Wilt but I only put 2 centers on the 10 man roster and Kareem and Shaq's best days were in L.A. while Wilt's were in Philadelphia.

Cousy, Bird, Havlicek, Russell are the top 4 no doubt for the Celtics.  Then you have a tough battle between McHale, Pierce, and Cowens for the #5 guy.  Throw in Jones and DJ on the bench and you have one hell of a 9 man rotation.

The Fakers have Kobe, Magic, Wilt, Baylor, and either West or Shaq as their 5th depending on if you want size or overall skill.  The problem is after those guys the list goes to either Cooper or Goodrich.

The Lakers have the better starting lineup, but the C's have more depth IMO.  The reason I would take the Celtics is that Wilt, West, and Magic for the most part played little to no defense.  The Celtics team with Russell, McHale, Havlicek, and Bird would eat up the Lakers offense.

I agree with your 5 for the Celtics..  for the Lakers I would add Kareem instead of Shaq or West..he would remind me of a current day Gasol with his tall and slim body.
That Lakers team would be an up and down team...high scoring offense for sure.  Celtics would be a defensive powerhouse. Would be an unbelievable finals series with those 9man's

you guys are dumb....alot of the players that played back in the day wouldnt do shit in todays nba......like you really think having john havlicek and kevin mchale instead of allen and pierce is a huge difference?...please.  If mchale and havlicek played today, they wudnt even be in the nba.  Magic and bird are the 2 exceptions, but even bill russell today wouldnt be as dominant.  Players today are 10X as strong and athletic as they used to be

good point.. but with the increase of technology, training methods, fitness levels and all of that...  what if the classic veterans could be in great shape and form like current players.. now rate their skill.
i always thought that if Kareem and his skyhook played in NBA now that he would get pushed further out and not be allowed near inside the paint.

How about going way back into history with George Mikan who won 5 NBA titles in the early fifties for the Minneapolis Lakers. Different time and different players but, Mikan was the most dominant player of his era.

Wow what incredible players and history both these teams have had. I am a huge Laker fan and it pains me but, with Russell, Cousy, Bird, Hondo and Rondo I think the Celtics take it.

That was very hard for me to say.

Basketball is about more than dunking.  McHale has more post moves than the whole NBA today combined.

Havlicek was a flat out gamer, constant hustle and defense.

Let me guess, Dr J would be on par with Shannon Brown?
