My buddy and I use the ABC method to playing P4s and ticket making, here is what we came up with...
R8
A-Tepin/Coffee Clique
B-Lady Lara/J Wonder/ Ball Dancing
R9
A-Private Zone/ Tonalist/ Bayern
B-Honor Code
R10
A- Big Blue Kitten/ Legendary
B- Finnegans Wake/ General a Rod
R11
A-Frosted/ Materiality
B- Madefromlucky/ Keen Ice
this gives us 11 combonations of tickets with our top ticket 6 times, and all other tickets 3 times.
R10 is the toughest race in this sequence IMO pretty stacked field but we can't use all the horses so we went with the 4 we did, we used who we felt are the 2 best horses in the field. And also included Legendary is a horse for the course and General a Rod is in here for a reason, the turf has been playing to front runners so we included. Note that My MIss Sophia won her 1st turf attempt yesterday in a non-graded stakes wiring the field.
Met Mile
This is a great race, but as far as it being a great betting race I'm not so sure, Private Zone, Tonalist and Bayern are the class of this field. E/P types have been winning dirt race and Private Zone has been game enough to prove he can run fast fractions and still be there at the wire. Look throughh Bayern's PPs, when he runs a clunker he always bounces back with a strong win and he is 1-1 at Belmont. Tonalist, not much to be said here 4-4 at Belmont and acquires the services of Johnny V. Honor Code is the best late runner in this field if for some reason there is a duel, he should be picking them up late, he will need his very best to win this race.
As for the Belmont, no secret I'm against AP I honestly believe his chances of winning a 12F race are slim and now throw in the circumstances and the schedule he's had. At 1-5 currently YOU CAN HAVE HIM!!
So we went 4 deep Frosted/ Materiality/ Madefromlucky/ Keen Ice.
Materiality and Johnny V are the key to how the pace will unfold. AP drawing inside is at there mercy.
Go back and watch Materiality's FLA Derby, he is under urging for almost 5 furlongs on the inside of a track the was suppossedly dead that day add in that Upstart was at his neck the entire time AND still he keeps on and hangs tough in what was only his 3rd career start. Materiality is the toughest horse in this field and AP his gonna having to deal with him probably the whole way. People here are saying Materiality will fold, IMO if anyone is folding in that battle it will be AP...
